Home-going
Dr. George Green went to
Heaven on Monday, Nov. 20
from Memorial hospital in
Danville, Ya. Friends here
feel a distinct loss, for Dr.
Green was for many years a
real part of this church and
community. He was truly one
of God’s elite. The first med
;eal missionary in Nigeria.
Africa, sent by Southern
Baptist in 1007, Dr. Green.
1 assisted by his noble wife
served there for almost forty
years. A citizen of four
i countries—England. Canada,
U.S.A.. and Nigeria, he was
respected, honored, and loved
| by all. Had his health permit
ted. he would have returned
! to Niger ia in 1901 at govern
ment expense to share in in
dependence ceremonies there.
Now that he is a citizen of
that Better Land, we give
thanks to God for his witness
and ministry here, and are
individually grateful for his
influence and blessing upon
Ridgecrest in his retirement
years w'hile he lived among
us as our friend.
At The Church:
Special services for Week
of Prayer ended on Friday
afternoon. Attendance was
steady and above average.
Those who came received
blessing and strength and for
many of these a deeper prav
er-life will continue and
grow in hearts through days
ahead. Approximately one
half of the goal (159! in
crease over last year’s gifts)
guests.
