INCIDENTALLY FOR YOU PROGRAM CHAIR MEN—we would appreciate an opportunity to cover this subject more in detail with a combined talk and slide film presentation. Just give us a call at 252 9007. * * * A SHORT 11M1 AGO many of us shared with viewers all over the world the first exciting telecasts transmitted by Telstar, our experimental communications satellite. While Telstar is the glamorous focal point of this miracle of space communications, its operation also depends on the vast horn antenna built by the Bell System near An dover, Maine. This giant "ear to outer space” is housed in the radome. a 16-story-high inflated bubble located on a plateau ringed ny moun tains. The horn itself weighs 370 tons and rotates on a 70-foot diameter wheel with the accuracy of a fine watch. Its function is to track Tel star and transmit to it and receive signals from it. Thou sands of visitors have come to Andover and guides are avail able to take people on tours of the 1000 acre site. twcewc vt wz'Xft.'Z'ex-e.wz-t v 'Hi— f ocl i REED'S RADIO & TV 100 S.
