The Reverend Fredrick G. Ohler conducted the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Mary Deal Garner of Swannanoa. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Curtis of Black Mountain. The chapel length train also of velvet was attached at the shoulders and was edged with seed pearls. Her fingertip illusion veil fell from a seed pearl tiara. She carried a cascade bouquet of white rosebuds. Miss Mary Carolyn Yates, of Charlottesville, Va., cousin of the bride, was maid of honor and^only attendant. She wore a floor length gown of Dior pink silk organza over satin. It was fashioned with a high collar of Ale neon lace. The lace extended the length of the back panel of the gown. Her headpiece was a crown of Dior pink Alencon lace and a veil of illusion. She carried a cascade bouquet of pink roses. John Martin Miracle of Black Mountain was best man. Ushers were Marshall Clayton Garland and Ronald Frank Watkins, both of Black Mountain. The bride is a 1967 graduate of Charles D. Owen High School and has been a receptionist with Silverman of Asheville. The bridegroom is a 1966 graduate of Owen High School and is presently serving as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, Camp Lejeune. He served nine months in the Mediterranean aboard the U.S. Independence. After a short wedding trip they will reside at Camp Lejeune. Out of town guests here for the wedding included: Mr. and Mrs. James T. Yates, Jim, Lynn and Mary Carolyn of Charlottesville, Va.; and the paternal grandmother of the bride, Mrs. Alice Garner of West Palm Beach, Fla. BURGLARS? Mrs. Sandra Daniels, representing the company, presented a most interesting program on ideas for preparing foods. gifts and holiday decorations. The Education Department Chairman, Mrs. Roger Parish, gave a report on the “Open House" for the PTA. Mrs. Horace Chastcen. chairman of the Fine Arts Committee, made an excellent display of local Kindergarten Art Work at the Black Mountain Library during National Education Week. Chairman for the New Years dance. Mrs. John Bolton, made a report on the program made by her committee. Mrs. Jarvis gave out tickets for the dance to club members. All members will be selling them. Officers for the coming year will be installed Saturday, Dec. 6th, at the Coach House Restaurant. Jr. Miss Graham Wed In Montreat Saturday Miss Ruth Bell Graham, daughter of evangelist Billy Graham and Mrs. Graham, was married here Saturday afternoon to Theodore Alfred Dienert of Rydal. Pa. The wedding took place at 4:30 p.m. in Gaither Chapel, where the bride's parents, Ruth Bell and William F. Graham, were married 26 years ago. The Grahams live in a mountaintop home here, not far from the scene of the wedding, and her grandparents, Dr. L. Nelson Bell, a former medical missionary to China, and Mrs. Bell, are also Montreat residents. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Dienert of Rydal, Pa., long-time friends of the Graham family, both of whom have been active in the Billy Graham Crusades. As he did in the weddings of his two other daughters, Dr. Graham gave the bride away and also conducted the ceremony, along with the bridegroom’s grandfather, Dr. Theodore Eisner of Rydal. The bride, who has completed two years at Gordon College, Boston, Mass., entered the chapel with her father. She wore a traditional wedding gown of candlelight peau de soie with a square, scalloped neckline and long sleeves and white appliqued with Alencon lace. With it she wore a full-length mantilla. Her sister, Anne, now Mrs. Daniel M. Lotz of Chapel Hill, who was also married in Gaither Chapel, was her matron of honor and the bridegroom’s sister, Miss Marilyn Dienert, was her maid of honor. Another sister of the bride, Mrs. Stephan Tchividjian of Montreat and Switzerland, the former Virginia Graham, was among the seven bridesmaids. Other bridesmaids were Miss Bonnie Barrows of Greenville, S. C., daughter of the Rev. Cliff Barrows, the evangelist’s associate; Miss Myrtle Hall of Greenville, a soloist for the Graham Crusades; Mrs. Darlene Crumley of Philadelphia, Pa., sister of the bridegroom; Miss Pern Cole of Zellwood, Fla., a former high school roommate of the bride; and Miss Dorothy Mayell of Montreat. Miss Hall sang “Keep Me Where Love Is” and Shea sang “Because." Tedd Smith, pianist for the Crusades, played “Trumpet Voluntary” for the processional. and the traditional Wedding March by Mendelssohn was used for the recessional. Wayne Cummins of Westland, Mich., a former college roommate of the bridegroom was best man. Ushers were Ned and Franklin Graham, brothers of the bride; Stephan Tchividjian and Dr. Daniel Lotz, brothers-in-law of the bride; Frank Crumley of Philadelphia, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; Joe Warren of Philadelphia; Rich Graham of Chicago; and Loren Young of Atlanta, southeastern director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The bride’s attendants wore floor-length shirtmaker-style dresses with Scotch plaid taffeta skirts and sheer bodices of ivory with full Camelot sleeves and Peter Pan collars. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in Assembly Inn here. The bride received her education at Hampden DuBose Academy, Zellwood, Fla., and Stony Brook tjrirls’ School on Long Island, New York. She has completed two years toward her Bachelor of Arts degree at Gordon College and plans to continue her education. The bridegroom received his education at Stony Brook School and Taylor University, Upland, Ind. He is now employed in Philadelphia with the Walter Bennett Advertising Agency with which his father is associated. The agency handles radio and television for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Finals In Community Contests Hundreds of rural and civic leaders from throughout Western North Carolina will be on hand in the Asheville City Auditorium on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 12 noon for the 20th annual awards meeting of the Asheville Agricultural Development Council. Highlight of this event will oe the announcement of the top winners of the Western North Carolina Community Development Program for 1969. The Honorable H. P. Taylor, Jr. of Wadesboro, Lieutenant Governor, will be the speaker. Representing Buncombe County in the area finals were Beech in Division “B” (75-150 families); and Newfound in Division “C” (over 150 families). Cane Creek was the county representative in the finals of the youth program. Library Has Story Hour For Children Story Hour was held on Wednesday, December 3, in the children’s room of the Black Mountain Public Library. Pre-schoolers met at 10:00 a.m. with Mrs. Fred A. Smith, Jr., and youngsters in grades 1-6 met at 3,:00 p.m. with Mrs. Dorn Underwood. Each session lasted one hour. The program featured Christmas stories and legends from around the world. An edible surprise treat was given to each child to take home at the conclusion of the program. Swannanoa Woman’s Club The American Home Department of the Swannanoa Women’s Club met on Monday, Nov. 24, at the home of Mrs. W. J. Blaine. Co-hostess was I»irs. Buford Lowe. After a business meeting presided over by Mrs. Benjamin Brigman, vice-chairman, a program was presented by Mrs. Rhoda Riddle, formerly of Riddle’s Flower Shop in Black Mountain. Her audience was * fascinated by the beautiful Christmas decorations and gifts she had made and her explanations about how she had made them. DuPuy of Black Mountain have just returned from Toronto, Canada, where they attended the wedding of their son, David, on November 15th. The bride was Miss Lieselotte Kruska of Cologne, Germany, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Kruska who were unable to make the journey from Germany for the occasion. The bride was given in marriage of her brother, Mr. Werner Kruska, recently of Scotland. Duplicate Bridge Winners Listed Using the Howell system winners for the Black Mountain Duplicate Bridge Club Wednesday night, Nov. 26, at the Monte Vista Hotel were: 1st, Mrs. A. T. David and Liesa were married in the chapel of Massey College, a residential college of the University of Toronto where David has been working and teaching part time for several years, and expects to receive his Ph.D. degree in Astronomy in about a year.
