Surprise Shower Miss Gloria Dawn Sullins was honored with a surprise miscellaneous shower at the Monte Vista Hotel on Friday evening, March 10. The 20 hostesses were Imogene Belt, Ruby Cairnes, Joanne Cantrell, Sherry Collins, Junita Conner, Kathleen Gilbert, Nancy Gregory, Opal Grove, Louise Hamby, Lorene Harris, Nancy Harris, Hilda Hudsm, Jo Keever, Verlie Leather wood, Mary Ledbetter, Mary Anne Moore, Mrs. Marshall Mott, Irene Stephenson, Muriel Stone, and Sue Tetrev. Fifty-five guests attended. Miss Sullins will be married to Milton A. Hollifield Jr. on April 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Blade Mountain First Baptist Church. A kitchen shower was given n Miss Sullins’ honor by her friends at Western Carolina University on March 6. Miller-Rhinehart The wedding vows of Miss Deborah Jean Miller and Robert Jerry Rhinehart were spoken Sunday, Mar. 19, at 4 p. m. in Gaither Chapel at Mon treat. The Rev. Calvin Thielman conducted the ceremony. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Miller, Jr., of Black Mountain, the bride is a graduate of Owen High School and is employed by Helgreen and Helgreen Accountants. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rhinehart of Black Mountain are the parents of the groom who is ala) a graduate of Owen High School. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an Empire gown of peau de soie, with an attached chapel length train. The gown was trimmed with applique of Chantilly lace and seed pearls. Her shoulder length veil of silk illusion was attached to a crown of petals trimmed with seed pearls. She carried a nosegay of white carnations and baby’s breath. C. visited Andy’s father, Clyde Jumper last Sunday. Mrs. E. E. White took a two weeks Caribbean Cruise to South America, while spending the Winter with her sister-in law, Mrs. Martha White in Sebring, Fla. Mrs. C. S. Prosser has returned from a six weeks visit in Florida. Howard Lytle recently at tended the second annual Culinary Art Show at the Carolina Food Service Ex position meeting at the Charlotte Merchandise Mart. The contest was opened to professional Chefs and food workers in non commercial institutions and culinary students. On Sunday afternoon at Open House at Asheville Buncombe Technical Institute. Howard , who is a culinary student, was one of the first place winners for his highly original work. Dinner guests of the Albert Harpers on last Thursday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Parrish of Oakland, Tenn. On Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday night of this week, starting at 7:30, Dr. H. J. Cobb, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Burlington, will be speaking to the Laymen of Asheville and Buncombe County in a special series of services. These services will be held at the Hill Street Baptist Church in Asheville, and are being sponsored by the Baptist Laymen’s League and the Ministerial Alliance of the city and County. Gregory L. Daugherty, son of Engaged Mr. and Mrs. Charles Walker of Swannanoa announce the engagement of their daughter, Varenda Diane, to James Robert Kennedy. On last Tuesday evening, Mar. 21, 13 people were issued certificates for the completion of a five weeks Human Relations Course sponsored by Asheville-Buncombe Technical Institute. Those finishing the course were Mrs. Martha Lytle, H. J.
