Eastmamoioii Owen High School Friday, April 28 7:30 p.m. presented by World Wide Pictures Lamb Edney The wedding of Miss Terry Yvonne Lamb and Richard Nelson Edney took place at 2 p. m. Saturday, April 15, at Laky Gap Church in Black Mountain. The Rev. C. W. Solomon con ducted the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh S. Lamb of Black Mountain and Mr. Ed ney’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Guy Edney of Swannanoa. Given in marriage by her father, Mrs. Lamb wore a long white gown with lace overlay, and short white veil. Miss Joyce Denise Lamb was her sister’s maid of honor and wore a long white dress and carried a nosegay of pink rosebuds and carnations. Charles Lytle was best man. The bride is a junior at Owen High School and Mr. Edney is a senior there. He is also em ployed at Beacon. The couple will live in Black Mountain. Gorman- Lemler Miss Mary Elizabeth Gor man, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Linder Gorman of Swannanoa, became the bride of Dr. John Fredrick Lemler, 30 Victoria Road, Asheville, on Wednesday, April 12. The Rev. Paul Chaplin con ducted the 7 p. m. wedding at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Asheville. Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Fredrick Lemler of Foley, Ala., are parents of the bridegroom Mr. Gorman gave his daughter in marriage. She wore an Empire gown of white organza with detachable train appliqued with Alencon lace, pearls and crystals. Her elbow length veil was attached to a spray of flowers made of lace, pearls and crystals. Dr.Jerald Sherer of Jasper, Ala., was best man. Ushers were the bride’s brother, Robert Edward Gorman of Lincolnton; William Donehower, and Braska Odom. Robert Linden Lipscomb was junior attendant. A reception was given. Mrs. Ronald Jackson was her sister’s matron of honor and wore a floor length dress of maize chiffon with mock bolero bodice of green Schiffley em broidery. They were dressed like the honor attendant wearing yellow chiffon over taffeta with white and green trim. Mrs. Lemler received her A.A.S. degree from Asheville Buncombe Technical Institute and is attending the University of North Carolina at Asheville where she is also employed as secretary of the director of admissions. Dr. Lemler received his B. S. and D. M. D. degrees from the University of Alabama. He did his internship and residency in oral surgery at Duke University and is presently practicing in Asheville. Limbert spent most of last week in Atlanta, where Dr. Limbert took part in the Triennial Conference of the Association of ProfessionaK YMCA) Direc tors. By a mail ballot to the more than 1200 retired YMCA secretaries Dr. Limbert was elected to another three-year term as president of the In ternational Association of Retired Directros. He presided at the triennial meeting of this organization. During the past three years he has visited 16 out of the 19 chapters of IARD in the United States and Canada. Many men continue an active relationship to the YMCA after official retirement and one of Dr. Limbert’s aims has been to encourage this continuing Bake Sole The Kerlee Heights Baptist Church is sponsoring a Bake Sale, Saturday, April 22, at the A&P Supermarket and Ingles on Montreat Road beginning at 9 a. m. JERRY ROBINSON ...the former Miss Wanda Harvey Harvey-Robinson Miss Wanda Kay Harvey became the bride of Jerry Dean Robinson at the Calvary Freewill Baptist Church in Swannanoa, Sunday, April 9, at 3p.m. The Rev. Frank Cantrell officiated. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Leon Harvey of Patton Cove Road, Swannanoa, the bride attended Owen High School. Mr. and Mrs. Wilburn Lee Robinson of Patton Cove Road are the parents of the bridegroom who attended Owen High School, is a veteran of the U. S. Army and is employed by Beacon Manufacturing Co. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white silk organza featuring an Empire waist trimmed with Venise lace and leg-o-mutton sleeves. Her veil of silk illusion was attached to an organza bow headpiece. Miss Sherry Ray of Swan nanoa served as the maid of honor. She wore a lavendar floor-length dress. Bridesmaids were Miss Vicki Harvey of Swannanoa, sister of the bride, and Miss Ann Rhodes of Black Mountain. Their dresses were similar to the honor attendants. Robin Clinton Gregg of Asheville, brother’in’law of the bride, served as best man. Ushers were Joe Robinson of Swannanoa, and Danny Robinson of Patton Cove Road, brother of the bridegroom. Black Mountain friends will entertain for Roy Trantham, incumbent candidate for county commissioner, at the Monte Vista Hotel Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hyder returned last Saturday night from a 10-day trip to London, England. They were among the 219 North Carolinians who made up the Spring Conference group of the North Carolina Mer chants Association. While in London, Mrs. Hyder and several others in the group flew to Paris for a day of sight seeing. Miss Arvine Bell, director of Camp Crestridge for Girls, Ridgecrest, reports a wonderful 17 day trip, “Adventure of Living Tour,” sponsored by Word Inc. Travel International ofWaco, Tes. 260 people from all over the world made up the group. They visited Rome, Sorrento, Capri, Florence, Pompeii, and Vatican City. In Germany they toured Stullgart and Heidelberg. TTie purpose of the tour was to have ap proxmimately 24 hours of conference with noted theologians, psychiatrists, and physicians. Four of the con ferences were conducted by Dr. Paul Toumier, French; Dr. Helmut Thieleke, German; Dr. Robert Hamik, Swiss; Keith Miller, a noted American lec turer. TTiese tours are spon sored annually by Word. — Several others from North Carolina were on the trip. Enroute south on spring vacation Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. White of Washington , D. C. visited Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Wood at their Lakey Gap home last weekend. Mr. White is Mrs. Wood’s borther. Other guests have been a niece, Mrs. Albert Clark of Pensacola, and Gulf Breeze, Fla. The Clarks have purchased property on Lake Gap. Mrs. Clark was here making preparation for their new home. Mr. Wood’s nephew F. D. Bryant and Mrs. Bryant of Alexander City, Ala., and their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lowe of Grenville, S. C., have also visited here. Dr. and Mrs. Simon Berggrun and children, Terrell and Doreen of Atlanta, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Cook. They came especially for Mr. Cook’s birthday. Dr. Berggrun teaches at Georgia State University. Mr. and Mrs. Willard K. Weeks are home from a sue weeks trip. They went to Florida, and from there took a two weeks cruise to the Caribbean. They visited the islands in the Caribbean, making ten port stops in ad dition to other sight seeing. Mr. and Mrs. Weeks have friends at three of the ports. Before returning to Black Mountain they visited Mrs. Week’s sister, Mrs. S. F. Haney in St Peter sburg and Mr. Week’s brother, Clark Weeks at Daytona. Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Dickens of Edison, N. J. an nounce the birth of a daughter, April 16. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Dickens left last Sunday morning for a few days stay with their son and his family in Edison. Johnny Carson, son of Mr .and Mrs. Gary Carson, spent April 9th weekend with his family. Johnny is a graduate student at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is majoring in Botony. Ryan recently spent three weeks with her sister, Mrs. Charles McPherson of Tampa, Fla. Ix»nnie Gould and Mrs. John G. Reading are home from a visit with his sister, Mrs. J. C. Woodard of Roanoke, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Neil E. Mac Milan have returned to their home after spending the winter at Sanibel Island, Fla. James Seawright has returned to Western Carolina Center at Morganton after spending a few davs with his mother, Mrs. Richard Seawright. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Mills and daughter, Michelle visited relatives in High Point last weekend. PFC Preston Osteen of Fort Sam Houston, Tex., is spending a two weeks leave with his family. Mr. and Mrs.Burton Osteen, David, Karen and Michele of Grovemont. Preston will be assigned to the Forty Seventh Field Hospital at Fort Sam Houston, when he returns. Jim Buckner, a member of the Town Council, was guest speaker at the dinner meeting of the United Methodist Church Men’s Club, Tuesday night, April 11, in the Fellowship hall of the church. Mr. Buckner very interestingly talked and discussed Civic affairs with the men. Mrs. Joseph LeVine and her mother of Miami Beach, Fla., have arrived to spend the summer at Mrs. LeVine’s home on McCoy Cove Road. William Zernow of Indiana is visiting his sisters, Misses Lelia and Bessie Zernow, for several weeks. Mrs. Dorothy Whitaker is at home after being a patient at Memorial Mission Hospital and Highland Farms Nursing Home. Mr. and Mrs. Rush Whtieside of Philadelphia, Pa. are spend ing several weeks at their home on New Bern Avenue. Mrs. H. McGuire Wood has returned after spending the Winter at Sanibel Island, Fla. Mrs. Earl Chaudoin went down and visited with Mrs. Wood for several days before they returned home together. Captain Walter H. Kreamer (Ret.) and Mrs. Kreamer have moved from Arlington, Va. to their recently purchased home (the W. N. Brown property) on the North Fork Road. Captain Kreamer is business manager at Warren Wilson College. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Grovels and daughter, Pat of Red Bank, N. J. spent a few days at the Monte Vista Hotel, while visitng Mrs. Grouls’ brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Field. Mrs. Betty Wrenn has returned after spending the winter with her sister, Mrs. Mae Howard of Ormond Beach, Fla. She is visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Wrenn, before opening her home on the Montreat Road. The Senior High Fellowship of Freindship Presbyterian Church attended the Billy Graham Crusade in Charlotte.
