No one really cares who is scoring and this has really helped especially in the close games,” Coach Williams joyously states. "Also, the kids have really worked hard defensively and hustled as hard as possible. They’ve realized that as long as they play with poise they will alway. have a chance,” he continued. They’ve done this well and really played their own game and its really starting to pay off. In my estimation they're really just a fine bunch of young men who are giving their all, he proudly concluded. Warhorses - Lassies Add Two More To Winning Streak The Owen Warhorses and the Warlassies have added two more to their string of wins. The Warhorses are now 7-3 overall. They boast 6 conference wins and 1 loss in the Little MAC placing them in a tie for first place with West Henderson. The Warlassies are now 9-1 overall. They have won 7 conference games, lost 0 and are now in first place in the Little MAC. The Warhorses are coached by Roy Williams and the lassies by Chris Lee. Warhorses 77- Mitchell 68 Tuesday night, January 13 the Warhorses downed Mit chell in 77-68 in a Little MAC. Owen’s win came on a combination of the defense of Rusty Norton who was out standing in his pressing tactics, the rebounding skill of Bobby Stafford grabbed 14 off the boards and double digit scoring from five players. Leading me warnorses was Stafford, who poured in 24, Randolph Scott laid in 15, Norton added 13, Mike Reese arose to the occasion with 11 and Kenny Patton helped put the game on ice with 10. Warlassies 79-Mltchell 47 The lassies showed their skill as they whirled into a 45 20 lead at the half. They employ ed a press and a fast break to secure this lead. Mary Ann Mvers was the leading scorer with 24, 18 of these in the fir--t half. Teresa Smith netted 18 and Pam Allen 14. (We saw last week how Pam can pray the ball in for Teresa.) Friday night was Warhorse and Lassie night again as they routed the East Henderson team on their (Henderson’s) home court. Warhorses 78-E. Henderson 62 Going into the dressing room at half time the teams were tied 35-35 but the Warhorses came back to outscore the Eagles by eight points in each of the final periods to pluck the Eagles 78 62. Bobby Stafford was the leader of the four players scoring in double figures with 24 point3. Kenny Patton scored 14 closely followed by Kemer Long with 13 and Randolph Scott with 10. Lassies 67-EagIrttes 46 The Lassies once again showed their scoring power and fine defensive play as they tarnished the plumage of the Golden Eagles. They blasted East Henderson, 67-46. Teresa Smith lead the Lassies with 16. Mary Ann Myers added 10 and Brenda Greer plunked in 15.
