The Plaza was built in 1974 by Clevenger Construction Co. and is owned by Jack and Jim Clevenger. The building contains 7,200 square feet of usable space all of which is under lease, except one 300 foot, one person office. A large down stairs suite and warehouse storage area has just recently been completed and is occupied by Royal Press, Inc. The Executive Plaza has filled a real need in Black Mountain for office space on an executive and-or professional level. Seven new businesses or professional men have established businesses there providing jobs for themselves and others, thus putting more money into circulation within the Township. Those having offices there include - The Black Mountain - Swannanoa Chamber of Commerce: I It's oldest tenant I; Dr. Robert Dickey, Optometrist: Dr. Timothy Tucker, Dentist; William S. Eubanks, Attorney; Stepp - Nichols Realty Company, Real Estate; Red Nichols, owner and manager; Callis and Nesbitt Construction So. (soon to open a office) and Royal Press Inc., Religious and Inspirational Books, Bob Hopper, Manager an owner. One need that is clearly apparent is that of a sidewalk along the street in front of the Exxon Station. The Burger Hutt and The Executive Plaza and the Soft Ice Cream Shop. This would not necessitate the purenase of a right-of-way as the widewalk would be on the parking and turn areas of the businesses served. Many people are now walking from town to get to this area and cossing U.S. 70 at this point is almost an impossibility now and will become increasingly more difficult as the summer progresses.
