Bom in Rayville, La., she was formerly of Marietta, Ohio, and Huntington, W. Va.t and was past president of the Huntington chapter of the National Story Tellers league. Overman Sr., 76, of Ridgecrest Road. Black Mountain, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Esther I„ Rowe Sunday after a long illness. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Rowe are Mrs. Bertie Fortner of Bennett, Colo., and Mrs. Relta Swinson of Norfolk, Va.; and four sons, Carther Overman Jr. of Asheville, Everett Overman of Raleigh, Clarence Overman of Pueblo, Colo., and Charlie Overman of Garland. Burial was m Manteo, under the direction of Twiford’s Funeral Home. Miller Funeral Home, Black Mountain, was in charge of local arrangements. Mrs. E. C. Kennedy Mrs. Anna Belle Daugherty Kennedy of Black Mountain and Winston-Salem, died Oct. 28 in a Winston-Salem hospital. A native of the Black Mountain area, Mrs. Kennedy was affiliated with Thomas Chapel AME Zion Church in Black Mountain. Surviving are the husband, •.lie Rev. E. C. Kennedy; four sons. Elijah of Chicago and Ervin, Charles and Franklin Kennedy of Winston-Salem; four daughters, Mrs. Carrie Brown, Mrs. Connie Fletcher, Mrs. Pansy Young and Miss Janette Kennedy of Winston Salem; two brothers, Samuel and Nelson Daugherty of Black Mountain; and several nieces and nephews. Black Mountain, died Saturday, Oct 30, in Asheville V.A. Hospital following a long illness. A native of Cliffside and a resident of Buncombe County most of his life, he was a former employee of the old Harrison Funeral Home. Surviving are the husband, James G. Lookabill; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert Hensley of West Asheville and Mrs. Nina Ixing of Winston-Salem; and two brothers, Clifford and Marshall Hall of Winston Salem. Graveside services were held Sunday in West Palm Beach, Fla., under the direction of Mivell-Faville Zern Mortuary. Miller Funeral Home, Black Mountain was in charge of local arrangements. Mrs. Goran Flack Mrs. Rosa Lee Flack of 123 East St., died Wednesday in an Asheville rest home after a long illness. She was bom in Union Mills, S.C., and had made her home in Black Mountain for several years. Surviving are the husband, Goran Flack; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Jones of Black Mountain and Miss Mary Dixon of Plainfields, N.J.; four sisters, Mrs. Salley Wells and Mrs. Marie Hart of Plainfield, Miss Mattie Nabors of Black Mountain and Miss Margie Nabors of Detroit; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mills Chapel Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Bishop B.L. Trogdon and the Rev. F. Gordon officiated. Burial was in Flack Cemetery, Union Mills. Jack Williams Jack Melvin Williams. 69, of 112 Belle Si. died Wednesday, Oct. 27. at his home un unexpectedly. A native of Georgia and a resident of Western North Carolina most of his life, he was a former employe of Beacon Mfg. Co. and the town of Black Mountain. In his later years, he was a con tractor and painter. He belonged to the Catholic faith and was a World War II veteran. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jean Cazangiu with whome he made his home; a son. Jack Williams of Fast Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Ullian Rumfelt, Mrs. Emma Yellon and Mrs. Daisy Bheller of Forest City; two brothers, Wayne and Foy Williams of Forest City; and 10 grand children. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. Father Pius Keating officiated. Burial was in Cool Springs Cemetery Forest City, at 2 p.m. Mrs. L.M. Ramsey Mrs. Rose Campiche Ramsey, 77, of Montreat Road, former Buncombe County school and music teacher, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, in a Buncombe County nursing home after a long illness. A native of Buncombe County and a graduate of old Asheville Normal and Teachers College, Mrs. Ramsey was a daughter of the late Gustave and Mary Raben Campiche and the widow of Lee Ramsey, who died in 1955. She was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church, where she was active in the music department. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Julia Jackson of Asheville; and four nephews, Julian Brown of Bristol, Tenn., and Gerald, Donald and Cecil Jackson of Asheville. Graveside riles were con ducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Green Hills Cemetery. The Rev. Enoch Ball Jr. officiated. Anders-Rice Funeral Home was in charge. Prentiss Childs Prentiss M. Childs, 27, of Assembly Drive, Montreat, was killed Thursday, Oct. 28, in a tractor accident. A native of Maryland, he had attended Thomas Nelson College in Hampton, Va., and had lived in Buncombe County since 1975. He was manager of Little Pisgah Camp and was owner and operator of Sun Construction Co. He was a member of Evangel Chapel of Black Mountain. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Vera Cyganik Childs; a daughter, Heather Joy Childs of the home; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Prentiss Childs of Seaford, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Becky Thomsen of Minnesota, Misses Linda and Carolyn Childs of Seaford; and a brother, Donald Childs of Seaford. Services were held at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Barker officiated.
