Unemployment dropped from 8.4 per cent in October. 1975, (o 4.9 per cent in October, 1976, according to the report. JOHN BURGESS Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Burgess, 84, of Old Toll Road, died Saturday, Dec. 25 in a Black Mountain hospital after a long illness. A native of Henderson County, she had lived in Buncombe County for 45 years. She was the widow of John Burgess and a member of the Black Mountain First Baptist Church.
