Mrs. Richard (Gloria) Corbin of Coco Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Robert C. (Virginia) Hunter of Asheville; Raymond James, Jr of Warren, Mich, and Dr. Roger James of Asheville and their families. Ray and Mary were married on February 4th, 1927 in Washington, D C. where they lived most of their lives. Ray retired from Washington. D C. Municipal Police Dept, with the rank of lieutenant 19 years ago. They are members of the First Baptist Church in Black Mountain where he is a Deacon and Assoc. Teacher of the Men's Fellowship Sunday School Class. Mrs. James is active in the work of the Women's Missionary Society. Mr. James is also a member of the Kiwanis Club and is a Mason. they have 1Z grandchildren and three great grand children. Six of the grand children were present at the reception and ali the great grandchiidren. They were presented with many gifts and cards which were on display. Their children presented them with a coior TV set. Among the out of town guests present, beside the children, were Mr. and Mrs. James Priest of Cherryville, N.C., Mr. Priest is Mrs. James' brother. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Wells aiso of Cherryville, David and Susan Corbin of Russeivilie, Ky., (grand chiidren), Watton Locke, Charlotte, Mr. and Mrs. John Stance! of Atianta and their two chiidren. RAYMOND JAMES xrz C/mb News WORKSHOP ON CRIME PREVENTION FOR ELDERLY The Agtng and Criminal Justice Division of Land-Of Sh Regionai Councii is sponsoring a Workshop on Crime Prevent! ,,, on Friday Feb. 11th at the Biack Mountain Ciubhouse on La^ Tomahawk. Attendance wiii be limited to Region B. personnel and volunteers working with Senior Citizens. Events J,, scheduled to start at 8:30 and end at 4:00. Speakers wiii come from the staffs of the Buncombe Co. Sheriffs Dept., the AsheviHe Poiice Dept., the Poiice Dept, of Huntington, West Va. and the N.C. Chapter of the AARP. In addition to the taiks there wiii be fiims and tours of Mobile Crime Units displaying security locks lunch will be served between 12 and 1:30. Health Education Program Starts The XYZ Club is starting a 16 week program on Heaith Education for Senior Citizens this week. The first session will be held Tuesday Feb. 8th and on following Tuesdays over a four month period. Each session will be an hour long, starting at 12:00 Mrs. Irene Stephenson the club manager must be complimented for initiating the program and arranging for its support from Club funds. The course will be taught by Mrs. Arlene Jordan who has outstanding qualifications. Mrs. Jordan has worked in Public Health Nursing, Intensive Care Nursing, Hospital Administration and is an Instructor at AB-Tech in Practical Nursing. Among the subjects which will be covered by the course are: Arthritis Respiratory Problems, Gastro-lntestinal Disorders, Recreation Communication, Kidney Disease, Cancer, Cardio-Vascular and Nervous Malfunction Drug and Safety Measures.
