Minister to be instoiied Not Sunday the minister of the First Christian Church, C. Ed Weber, will be installed during the 11 a m. worship hour. Dr. Bernard Meece, regional minister, will bring the installation message. Mrs. Eva Brothers, moderator of the Church Board, will also participate in the service and lead the congregation in its affirmation of support. Before the worship service, a reception will be held in honor of Dr. Meece and the new minister and his wife, Ed and Alice W eber, on the front lawn of the church at 10:30 a m. He was a native of Sampson County and a retired labora tory and X-ray technician at Western North Carolina Sani torium. He attended Campbell College. Mary Lunsford Services for Mary Lunsford of Church Street, who died Monday, Aug. 16, were held at 10 a m. Thursday in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Edgar Ferrell officiating. Burial was in Mountain View Memorial Park. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Lunsford was a daughter of the late John W. and Bertha Massey Hagan. She had lived for 40 years in Blade Moun tain, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are two daugh ters, W anda Courtriey of Spen cer,, Va., and Joann Freeman of Greenville, S.C.; a son, Stephen Lunsford of Lake Mil ton, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. John Goforth of Leicester and Mrs. John Goforth of Leicester and Mrs. J.C. Hembree of Asheville; two brothers, Joe Hagan of Leicester and Billy Hagan of Emma; 13 grand children and three great grandchildren. Octie Callahan Services for Octie Callahan, 85, of 946 Christian Creek Road, who died Monday, Aug. 16, were held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Christian Creek Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Hie Revs. C.J. Duvall and Kenneth Ridings officiated. Burial was in Little Ivy Baptist Church cemetery, Mars Hill. A native of Rowan County, Mrs. Callahan was the daug hter of the late Effrim and Hiza Barber Honeycutt and the wife of the late Albert H. Callahan. She had been a Swannanoa resident for 35 years. Surviving are two daugh ters, Mrs. Lewis Crain of Swannanoa; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Many Verne Mary Veme of 771 Lakey Gap Road, Black Mountain, died Sunday, Aug. 22, in a Black Mountain nursing home after a period of declining health. A native of Newark, N.J., and a resident of Black Moun tain for 24 years, she was a daughter of Elizabeth Clarke Bray in New Jersey and the late Michael Bray.
