by the weather. It's still cold
outside, but the ideal Dlanting
dates for some crons have
already passed.
The best times to plant some
others are rapidly approach

You can still plant carrots
and head lettuce and expect to
harvest a reasonable crop.
Here are some other sug
gested ideal planting dates -
remember to adjust these to
your section of the state:
March - April l--kale, kohl
rabi, leaf lettuce, mustard.
Each of these can also be
planted for a fall crop in
August.

lima beans, eggplant, okra,
pepper plants, southern peas,
and pumpkin.
You can plant two crops of
many of these home garden
vegetables, and it is often
preferable to stagger plantings
so all of the crop won’t be
ready to harvest at the same
time.

“Tele-Tax” telephone service.
Asheville area tax payers can

tance.
Tax information is recorded
on 141 tapes and is available to
taxpayers with pushbutton
telephones 24 hours a day, 7
days a week, the year round,
the IRS says.
When a caller uses any one
of the numbers listed, record
ed instructions tell how one of
the taped messages may be
accessed. IRS Publication 910,
“Taxpayer’s Guide to IRS
information and Assistance,”
or Publication 1163, “Tele
Tax,” contains tape titles and
numbers and are available free
from the IRS and at most
libraries.
If a taxpayer calls from
outside the local dialing area
of any of the above numbers,
they have to pay a long
distance charge.
