The table had as its center decoration a crystal basket of beautiful pink roses and snap dragons while at each em were mr ioc ,.!M.tirl. . holdine lisrhted Km 1 , . pink candles. Covers were laid for twelve including the noness, ana vuc places 'of the truest were marked by most attractive favors made of paper wish-bones and pink roses with a tiny metal wedding bell attached. The guests were Mesdames Liles and Ing ram, the honorees, and Misses Eliza beth Horne, Eleanor Horton, Alice Little, Mary Alice Caudle, Anne Bald win Horne, Betsy Boylin and Mes dames H. H. McLendon, R. B. Boylin and Ben Wall. Both of the brides were attired in handsome gray dresses and wore corsages of pink roses and val ley lilies. A delicious luncheon in four courses was served. The Inter Nos Club held a delight ful meeting with Mrs. Troy Ashcraft on Thursday afternoon. Handsome ferns and bowls of fragrant narcis sus were informally arranged about the living room where forty-two was played at three tables. Mrs. G D Davidson received the club prize a pretty card table cover, while the visitors prize, a dainty hand-made handkerchief fell to Mrs. Harry Cov ington. After the games Mrs. Ash craft served a very palatable meau consisting of potato salad, ham, pick le, sandwiches and coffee, followed by sa'lted nuts. The hostess was assist ed in serving by Mrs. K. W. Ashcraft. Other guests present in addition to club members were Mrs. T L Caudle, Miss Fannie Bennett, Mrs. P R Ben nett and Mrs. Harry Covington. " '- The Thomas Wade Chapter DAE held its regular monthly meeting last Friday afternoon with Mrs. Geo Al len and Miss Ellen Pinkston at the home of the former. Much business of importance, including the election of officers, was transacted. The new officers elected were, Regent, Mrs. L. J. Huntley, Vice-Regent, Mrs. W, C. Via, and Registrar, Mrs. W. L, Mc Kin'non. After the literary program, the hostesses served delicious refresh ments. Mrs. Kenneth M. Hardison is enter' taining the Bridge Club this after noon. LEARNING TO LIVE LONGER. Life Insurance Companies Are Elat ed Over the Health Record of 1922 Mortality Rate is 6.4 Deaths Per 1,000 Lives. New York, Dec. 7. Lile insurance death claims up to November. 1 show ed that the United States and Cana da are experiencing a health record this year almost identical with that of 1921, which -was the best in public health history. A survey of these claims covers the deaths for the first ten months of 1922 among 29, 000,000 insured persons was submit ted to the sixteenth annual conven tion of the association of life insur ance presidents here today by Dr. Au gustus S. Knight, medical director of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Com pany of this city. Forty-four life insurance compa nies, which .together "carried over 83 per cent of the fcotal ordinary busi ness of the United States and Canada, have had a mortality rate in 1922 of 6.4 deaths per 1,000 lives as compared with 6.5 last year, said Dr. Knight. The timber situated upon the fore going tracts of land will be sold as one body. This is the largest tract of timber to be found in Anson county and all persons interested in timber will do well to investigate the same in view to making a purchase there of. The land has been sub-divided into lots as hereinbefore recited and the courses and distances of each lot and location thereof will be pointed out to all prospective bidders by Miss Fannie Watson or J. C. Watts, both of whom reside unpon the premises. Any further information with respect to the same will be gladly furnished by the undersigned Commissioner. This timber is situated about eight miles from Wadesboro, twelve miles from Ruby, S C, and seven miles from either Polkton or Peachland.
