Berry, was playing with a blank pistol which accidentally dis charged in his hand. The wound was not considered at all serious and for several dayB afterwards the child pliyed around as usual. In a day or two he complained of his jaws hurt ibg and it was found that lockjaw bad developed. The little fellow made a brave fight but succumbed on Fri day, November 11th. The funeral on Saturday was con ducted by Rev. F. A. Bower and in terment made in the cemetery. The bereaved family have much sympathy in their loss. MORRISON PLEADS TOR THE ORPHAN CHILD Along With Other Officials He Asks Presbyterians to Raise 125,000 Governor Cameron Morrison, O. D. Watts, B. R. Lacy, James R. Young, A. W. McLean and James Sprunt, five of North Carolina's most prominint citizens have joined in an appeal to the Presbyterians of North Carolina to support the program outlined for Barium Springs orphanage and beg them not to allow the campaign now iff-progress for a Thanksgiving offer ing of large proportions to fail. The appeal, which indicates the un usual enthusiasm aroused on behalf of the orphanage, is in the form of an open letter addressed to those of the Presbyterian faith in North Car olina and is as follows: "To the Presbyterians of North Car olina: "To laymen's committee of th Presbyterian church of North Caro lina is making a campaign for $125, 000, to be given at this Thankgiving for much needed equipment, improve ment and maintenance at the Barium Springs Orphans' home. We are fam iliar with the needs of this home for the fatherless and as Thankseiviner is a time when the needs of all turn to wards the children we most heartily indorse this campaign and urzentlr ask the Presbyterians of the state net to let it fail. Three hundred omhn. children are knocking at the doors of this institution and it is utterly im- possioie to receive them. With the ad ded facilities that this money will provide, many of these children can te taken in and given a chance in life.
