Daniels* of Cb> o-on college, told a story nt the chamber of com merce- annual meeting the other night ‘•i an old darky who had a wonder ful memory. The devil appeared sud denly before the aged negro and ask ed him: “I)o you like eggs?’ The reply was in the affirmative.' Fifteen years bottr. the devif appeared again, utter, ir:g just one work: “Dow?” And quick os a flash, Uncle Zoko responded; “Fried.” Sound rather remarkable, doesn’t it? Rut there i", nothing miraculous ala ut a memory of that kind. Here’s a little inrodent that occurred last night and in winch we believe you will be interested, if you will pardon the personal tone in which it is written. Our baby was horn three and one half years ago. We sent out announce - tnents of the event -to our friends, among the list being O Max Gardner whom I met during his campaign for governor, and who always impressed me as being one of the finest men it ever bar been my good fortune to meet. And that’s all of that. I have*n’t seen Mr. Gardner in almost four years. Last night I called him over long dis tance tdlof&one, ’Intending tg ask him to come tfr Wildon and ranfto; a talk to the men attending Subday school 3 Change of |i Life S "When change of Hfe began on 1 mo,” gays Mrs. Lewis Lisher, of Lamar, Mo., "I suffered so with womanly weakness. I suffered a great deal of pain in my back and sides. My limbs would cramp. I didn’t feel like doing my work, and there are so many steps for a wotnan to take on a farm. I was very anxious to get better. A friend rec ommended Will The Wen’s Tonic to me and I began using it. I certainly improved. I went through change of life with out any trouble. I can highly recommend Cardui." At the age of about 40 to 60 every woman has to pass through a critical time, wnich -is called the Change of Life. At this time, great changes take place in her system, causing various painful and disagreeable symptoms. If you are approaching this period, or are already suffer ing from any of Its troubles or symptoms, take Cardui. It should help you, as it has helped others. Cleveland Springs. j Gastonia Gazette. Cleveland Springs seems to be com ing into right much popularity as a year round resort. It is our under standing that there is a fairly good crowd there all the time now. This is ’encouraging to those who are boost ers of Piedmont Carolina climate and resources. We have tly> finest in the world if we only let outsiders know about it. 1 he Cleveland Star quoting [a prominent visitor to the hotel who : aid there was no limit to the possi bilities there, goes on to say: “The possibilities are. great. Far eastern North. Carolina has Pinehurst. Far Western North Carolina has the at tractions of the “Land of the Sky.” Still there are resort advantages at Cleveland that neither can boast. The climate uniformity here far excels that of Pinehurst, America’!". pluy ground, or that of the Asheville sec tion, called the vacationists’ paradise. There is no facility or advantage that tends to make a resort really fa mous that is not or can not be devel oped at Cleveland Springs.
