Fanning Neighborhood Hostess. Mrs. W. L. Faning entertained most delightfully with another rook parly on Friday afternoon. Her neigh hors and a few other guests were in vited and a happy time was spent playing rook. The house was beauti fully decorated, pink carnations and potted plants being placed on the mantles and tables. After an hour of progressions Mrs. Fanning served an elegant icc course with coffee and cheese straws, mints » and stuffed dates. The “Looker On" Writes of France. Y. W. A.’* of Baptist . C'hurch Meet. The Y. W. A.s of the Baptist church held a literary meeting in the church on Wednesday afternoon nt 3:30. The mothers and women of the church were invited and each brought a tea glass. The program was inter esting the- subject being ‘Cuba”. Miss Margaret Elam told about Cuba then Miss Virginia Hamrick read a paper about the manner and customs of the voung women of Cuba. Miss Mary Ruth Lemons read a delightful story the ttile “Pretty Mothers’. Miss Mary Suttle and Miss Kathleen Hord sang sweetly a duet also Miss Minnie Ed dins Roberts and Mias Melba Metcalf closed the urogram with a duet. Miss Rachel Conner, the bright lit tle daughter of Mrs. May Wells Con nor celebrated her eighth birthday last Thursday afternoon at n birthday Party to about 10 of her little friends. After a number of interesting games were enjoyed, a delicious course of refreshments was served to the de light of the little ones fortunate enough to be present. Rtiquette Dictionary. A wedding of unusual beauty nnd Interest was solemnized at the home of Mr. Urie Hamrick, Boiling Springs Wednesday afternoon at 5 o’clock, when Mias Rosina Hamrick became the bride of Mr. James Tilden flrigg of Lawndale. The bride is the attractive and ac complished daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Urie Hamrick. She is a graduate of Boiling Springs high school, both from the literary department and music, and is now one of Cleveland county’s teachers. The groom is the son of Mrs. Rossie Grigg, a voung man of sterling character and keen business quality. This union repre sents two of Cleveland county’s best families. The Interior of the bride’s home was tastily decorated in ferns, potted plants and running ivy with a hack ground of white. By five o’clock a host of relatives and friends had as sembled. Immediately entered the pi anist, Mrs. James McBrayer hand somoly attired who gave a beautiful and fitting selection “Believe Me, If all those Endearing Charms” with va riations. Then as the strains of Lo hengrin’s arose, entered Rev. J. R. Greene, pastor of the Boiling Springs church. Then preceding the bride and groom came little Miss Rachel Huggins and Master Jack Holland, little Rachel in a dainty dress of white satin nnd bearing a basket of rose pedals, gen erously strewed the way for the bride Master Jack wearing a little suit of white satin, carrying the wedding ring in a white rose handsomely marched to the nltar by Rachel’s side. Next came the bride and groom. The bride wearing a beautiful dress of a lovely shade of gray crepe with ac cessories to match. While the beautiful ring ceremony was being performed by Rev. J. R. Greene the pianist was softly play ing “To a M ild Rose.’ Immediately after the marriage the happy couple left for Charlotte. The young couple1 veil! make Lawndale their home soon. Newton’s Sunday school class had a most enjoyable time on Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anthony. • All kinds of games were played and an exciting musical contest entered upon.
