"Speaking of league baseball for Yorkvillo this summer,” remarked J. H. Carroll, “if we could just persuade Harry Neil to manage the thing I am sure that the people of the town and the community would cheerfully put up the money to have a team here. It seems to me that four town circuit consisting of Yorkvillo, Gastonia, Shelby and Gaffney would be the thing and I don’t think it would he much trouble to get the other three inter ested. That would mean a circuit whose members are within a radius of thirty-five miles or less. One of the biggest costs in connection with tho team here last yenr was the matter of transportation and other traveling expenses. I believe that 81,000 would he sufficient to put a good team in the field for this town—certainly the cost would not he ns great as last year. If Mr. Neil would just take the thing in charge I am satisfied the people would back him to the limit.” LINCOLNTON COUNTRY CLUB FORMALLY OPENED JUNE 10 Lincolnton, June 12.—The Lincoln, ton Country club was formally open ed Tuesday afternoon with a golf tout nament, tennis matches and a genuine old time barbecue.
