As a shipper 1 would l> • more than delighted to ship a car load of poultry every day or even one car a week or one a month. Hut unfortunately there is no such production of surplus poultry vent out from the confines of Cleveland county, One rough guess right off the reel, 1 would ay about four car "loads of poultry is shipped f:oiu this county yearly, outside what trucks haul to nearby cities, Charlotte, Gastonia, Spartanburg, Greenville and Asheville, which .pay '.its tnu. lt or more than Philadelphia, Haiti more or Richmond of the four car loads .hipped to Kit-tern points, I will say I ship about, two.'and.other shippers two. To'ah ip my two car loads in two days would leave -ill days of the year to do noth ing. hut hy other lines of toil. In rade with the daily poultry market i have did days of work in the year, then i,. is mm h more afisfael hi y with the producer to hate n every work day market. I! is true (.her? is some eodifetion in express rates to ship hy car lots, but in the long run it is mo'-c expensive than a every day market,. The cost of feed to fee l poultry endue length of time when you wish to s 11, mala.. more expensive than to sell on the every day market. Then you don't want to he confined to certain two or three days in the year to market your poultry. Yon wish to sell at. your convenience, or when il would be more convenient for you to have the cash instead of tile poultry, then the every da market is hy far the most satisfactory to the consumer for he ha a chance to get poultry every work day in the year. The two moons of Mars may indi cate plenty of ligth during the night, hut when you think of our old friend Jupiter with five moons, then you can imagine how much light you would have if you had five moons in stead of one. All Mauneys and their friends are respectively Invited to come with well filled baskets to enjoy the reunion and picnic with us. The mayor and board of aldermen of this city at their recent meeting tabooed bright auto lights, useless racing of motors and blowing of horns Special atention of the police was called to this mater, with instructions to enforce the law, especially in the double horn blowing after everybody is supposed to be in bed at night. Among the attractions of special interest to visitor,a, from Lincolnton to the 30th Division reunion at Char leston, S. C., next week will be the great U. S. battleship Utah, eom manded by a Lincolnton man, Capt. R. Z, Johnston. To see this ship, the greatest afloat, and a Lincolnton man in command will be a rare treat. Should the state continue its road building campaign and issue 36 mil lion more with which to complete the program of dependable roads from county seat to county seat, Lincoln county, in addition to the three roads from Lincolnton to Alexis, High Shoals; and Catawba line, perhaps would be entitled to two more one connecting direct with Statesville and the other with Morganton. The later two would perhaps serve a larger por tion of the county, east and west than those already built or building. GAFFNEY PEOPLE Alltel' FUNERAL OF MRS- DOGGETT Gaffney Ledger. Mrs. R. H. At the regular monthly meeting of the County Commissioners held Mon day, that board refused to recom ment the granting of license to 11. V. Judging by the length of the petition sent from Goodsonville scarcely any one in that community desired a pool room. The petition which was nothing more than a cen sus of the whole population of Good .sonville, prayed the County Commis sioners to not recommend to the state the granting of pool room li cense to Mr. Wynne, and the Commis sioners realising that the industrial community of Goodsonville, cared not for pool, refused to recommend that the license he issued by the state as is required by the lnw outside of in corporated towns.
