trie on 'Monday January 12, 1925, for
the purpose of ascertaining the will
of the electors within the proposed
special school taxing district upon the
question of levying a special tax, not
exceeding fifty (50) cents on the One
Hundred Dollars valuation of all prop
city, real and personal, in said dis
trict, in addition to the county tax foF

It is further ordered that at said
election those who are in favoy of said
boundary becoming a Special School
Taxing District and of levying a spe
cial school tax in said district to art
amount not exceeding fifty cents
on the One Hundred Dollars valuation
of property, both real and personal, in
said district, shall vote a ticket on
which shall be printed or written the
words, "FOR SPECIAL TAX” and
those who are opposed shall vote a
ticket on which shall be printed or
written the words, “AGAINST SPEC
IAL TAX,” it being understood that
if a majority of the qualified electors
at said election shall vote in favor of
said special tax, then said boundar
ies shall constitute a special school
taxing distinct known, as tiie Casar

ally determine the result of said elec

lication of this order and of said elec
tion and new registration be made by
publishing this order in the Cleveland
Star once a week for three weeks,

The department of commerce,
through the bureau of the census, an
nounces the preliminary report on cot
ton ginned by counties, in North Car
olina, for the crops of 1924 and 192.3,
according to a Washington dispatch.
The total for the state was made pub
lic Friday, November 21.
Quantities are in running bales,
counting round as half bales. Linters
are not included.

Atlanta, Ga.—First reports from the
American Red Cross membership cam
paign, which closed yesterday, show
an increase of 20 per cent for the
eight states rn the southern division
over the enrollment reported this
time last year it was announced yes
terday.
With incomplete reports from 270
of the 564 chapters participating in
the campaign showing a total enroll
ment of 168,005 members, southern
headquarters predicted complete re
turns will give the south the largest
membership ft has had for four years.
Available reports show the follow
ing enrollment: Georgia 37,947; Ala
bama 17,797; North Carolina 31,128;
South Carolina 14,912; Tennessee 23,
905; Florida 24,660; Louisiana 8,985
and Mississippi 19,320.
WILL BUILD SKYSCRAPER
TO HOUSE 12,000 STUDENTS
Plans for the erection of a $10,
000,000 52-story building at the en
trance of Schenley park, to house a
major part of the activities of the
University of Pittsburgh, were an
nounced by Chancellor John G. Bow
man. The new structure, to be known
as “the cathedral of learning," wiH
accommodate 12,000 students. The
building will be Gothic in style, in
white Kentucky limestone and will
stand upon a 14-acre tract of land fac
ing the park, ft will be 360 feet long,
260 feet wide and 680 feet high. It will
have four entrances, 10 high speed
elevators and class rooms, libraries,
shops and laboratories. Construction
work will begin next year.
Bowman explained the plans in de
tail at a banquet of the trustees of
the university and members of the
faculty and a citizen committee of 120
prominent business men.
