The South Washington Bridge club will be entertained by Mrs. O. M. Gardner on Saturday afternoon. The hour is 3:30 o’clock. Evening Division Meets. The Evening Division of the Wo man’s club will meet on Thursday evening at the home of Oeland Washburn. Daughter of Confederacy To Meet. The Cleveland Guards chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy will meet at the home of Mrs. Z. J. Thomp son on this afternoon, Deceml>er 0th. The hour is 3:30 o’clock. Mr. Troy McKinney Host . e Mr. Troy McKinney was n delight ful host on Friday evening when he entertained a number of his high school friends with u most enjoyable party. After games and music, deli cious refreshments were served these happy young people. Afternoon Division No. 1 Postponed.' The Afternoon Division No. I of the Woman's club which was to have met this Thursday afternoon has been postponed until ufter the Christmas holidays. '■Miss Margaret Love Gardner enter taimkf the Junior chapter of the Chil dren: of the Confederacy on Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock. The rooms were thrown together and the soft lights made a warm, bright scene within. Quite a number were present and In most interesting program was rendered by Misses Charlie Mae Laugh ridge, Virginia Hoey and Elizabeth Dudley after the business session and program were concluded, Miss Gard ner *assisted by Mrs. Max Gardner, Mral.J. L. Webb and Mrs. S. R. Riley served a sweet course consisting of ice cream, cake, nuts an deandy. Mis! Ebeltoft Ishpening Hostess. Miss Elizabeth Ebeltoft’s beautiful home on South Washington street pre sented a beautiful Christmas scene witlifn, her rooms being artistically and exquisitely decorated with ropes of Christmas greenery, holly, and poted bloom plants on Friday after nooflTwhen she was the gracious host ess*to the Ishpening club. The mem ber* were out in full force despite the increment weather and a most enjoy able afternon was spent. The program wat most interesting and the papers wegk carefully and delightfully pre pared. After papers were laid aside Miip Ebeltoft assisted by her mother, served the most delicious refreshments the^Christmas idea being carried out perfectly in these delectable dainties. Line berfer at the former's handsome home on West Marion street. Mrs. Blanton dec&ruted her reception rooms very attwctively with a color motif of red an<£green the Christmas colors; holly an<£poinsettas being used in charming effect. Mrs- J. F. Jenkins and Mrs. S. R. Jtiley received at the door and Mrs Cly$e R. Hoey and Mrs. 0. M. Gardner received in the drawing room. Mrs. Jenitins wore a beautiful orchid gov(ji and Mrs. Riley black satin bead ed Jh roses. Mrs. Hoey wore old blue vel#t brocaded in roses and silver. In thegreceiving line were Mrs. Blanton in cfearming gown of powder blue bro radgd velvet, fur and silver trimmed, Mr*. Lineberger was beautiful in red velvet. S. Lipscomb in black and while chiffon, T. R. But ler in black chenille, Charles Haines black crepe back satin and lace and Mrs. Louis Wood brown atin. Invitin'# the guests into (he dining I room were Mesdames Carl Thompson I in Mack beaded satin, green trimming and Mrs. Odus Mull in brocaded broche and satin. Receiving in the sun parlor were Mrs. Jap Suttle in black geor gette beaded in old blue and Mrs. Paul Wehh in tan beaded georgette fur trimmed. In the dining room were Mrs F. Sherrill in black satin and Mrs. A. W. McMurry in electric blue chif fon, were seated pouring tea. The tea table was beautifully appointed hav ing for its center piece a handsome silver basket with poinSettas and holly. .Numerous red candles burned in sil ver candlesticks. Tea was served with delicious salad, sandwiches, cheese straws, nuts and mints. Assisting in the dining room were Mrs. Walter Fanning in blue velvet broche, Miss Amos Willis in black georgette, Miss Agnes McBrayer in rust georgette beaded in turquoise blue, Miss Mary Harris in flame chiffon and Mrs. Tom Moore in biscuit chiffon beaded trim mings. The reception hours were from 4 to 4:30 o’clock and in spite of the very inclement weather a large num ber were entertained’ Harvey Jetton jr.. Marries in Charlotte. The man yShelby friends of Harvey W. Jetton, jr., son of former Chief of Police H. W. Jetton of the town of Shelby will be interested in the an nouncement of his wedding which took place Friday evening at 7 o’clock in the home of Mr. J. J. Austin, 1321 E. Fourth St., Charlotte, Rev. C. B. Mnshburn officiating;. The bride was lovely in a brown ensemble suit, mid-season hat and accessories to match. She wore a cor sage bouquet of bride's roses and swansonia. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Sallie Gill Wilson, and was graduated from East Carolina college in 1022 and since that tljtne has been {caching in the Charlotte schools. She has made many friends with the faculty and student body. She is a young wo man of bright intellect and attractive, winning personality. Mr. Jetton is the son of Mr. and Mrs. II. W. Jetton of Lincolnton. He is a young man of pleasing personality and sterling character and holds a responsible position with Belk Broth ers in Charlotte. Mr. and Mrs. Jetton left immedi ately after the ceremony for northern points. Mitchell-Cross Wedding Brilliant Church Affair zWith a beautiful setting and witness ed by a large assemblage of relatives and friends, the marriage of Miss Adele Dolores Cross and Mr. Burton Forrest Mitchell was brilliantly sol emnized at six o’clock Wednesday ev ening at Trinity church. The service of the Episcopal church was said by Rev. George O. Watts. The decora tions were elaborate, a profusion of artistically arranged smilax, white chrysanthemums and burning candles producing a lovely effect. The bride's grandmother Mrs. J. L. Slaydon, Mrs. Herbert Nichols and Mrs. Henry M. Lupton rendered the nuptial music, the following program being given; urgan uverture from Lohengrin by Mrs. Lupton. Violin-~Romapce bv Mrs. Nichols. During the ceremony Mrs. Lupton and Mrs. Nichols played “O Perfect Love” from the Episcopalian hymn book. To the strains of the time-hon ored wedding march by Mendelssohn, the bridal party led by the ushers, Messrs Clavden Cross, William Marry, Nathaniel Gerhart. Prim Rodriquqez, John and George Conroy, advanced to the altar. The maids and grooms en tered alternately. The gowns worn by them and the matron of honor were fashioned alike and were of the rain bows colors. Panne velvet was the material used, with gold cloth trim ming. The bodice was cutV-shaped outlined with rhinestones, and flower of contrasting color adorned the right shoulder. The skirt was draped at the waist with an ornament an insert of gold cloth and a puffing of the same materiu! around the hem added charm to the costume. The flowers were arm bouquets of yellow specimen chrys anthemums tied with gold ribbon and tulle and each girl wore in her hair a wreath of gold leaves and flowers. Miss Sadie Hurst of Montgomery, Ala., and Miss Kathryn Starling of Hopkinsville were in gold and Miss Mary Yancy Fort and Miss Finley Elder in orchid. The groomsmen were (Continued on page four.)
