Illustration describes how easy it’s done by making Negro’s Adventure in Florida. (From the Tampa Tribune.) Simeon Washington, a negro resi dent of the Flatwood district, down Peace river, determined to go in the real estate business. Hearing of the fortunes made over night in Florida realty, Simeon came to the conclusion he would abandon trucking and thrive likewise. In a short time he circulated his cards, an nouncing his vocation as “realtor' | dealing in lots, farms, groves, etc. i Maintaining his usual dignity, he l donned his Sunday-go-to-meeting suit, j with a rubberoid collar and a store tie, and set forth on a listing expedi tion. Practically everybody with whom he came in contact, listed their propc* ties with Simeon at substantial prices. Then his selling campaign was start ed. In two weeks, hardly a property remained in its original hands. Mo money had passed hut the fellow wit’i a grove traded with the tiurkor who wanted a change of voertion, until ev erybody had possession of the other fellow’s place. Simeon collected commissions both ! ways, Money not being in evidence, a I cow, flock of chickens, wagon, horse or anything worthy of value, was ac cepted in commission. Then the re action came. Wives objected to the new order ot things and sighed for the original holdings. Back came Simeon on that job. Exchanges were made faster than the original trades. Today hardly a family is in strung*, quarters and Simeon has two horses, three cows, a Ford car, 232 chickens, eight ducks, a turkey, three suits or clothes twelve cords of wood, a plow and half the yard at his place filled with odds and ends of barter. Inside his home is a phonograph, sewing machine, wringer, and other household necessities. Everybody appears satisfied with conditions, particularly Simeon Wasn ington, who has' announced his re tirement from realty fields and hi.; resumption of farm work, supple mented by a hennery from which ha is making a good income.
