Soon after the fire was first discover
tul the walls and roof of the building
fell in. Very little was saved.”

had $7,(KM) worth of goods. Their
new stock for the fall and Winter
trade had just arrived and been pack
ed in the store, making in all about
§10,000 worth of goods, with no in
surance whatever.”
“The origin of the fire is unknown,
but it is supposed to be the. work i f
an incendiary, and there appears to
be sufficient ground for the supposi
tion. It is the prevailing opinion
that the store was fobbed and then
set on fire by the thieving scoundrels
to cover up the robbery. A box of
cheese was found in the door and the
cheese knife was laying on the ground
a few feet away.”
“The dwelling house of Mr. D. Hoy

Dr. Jarrett Takes Spear’s Painless System Of Adjustment
Dr. B. M. .Jarrett, the subject of this sketch today is a native of Spartanburg, S. C.. but has
spent roost of his life in Rutherford and Cleveland counties. He likes fishing and hunting, hut
possesses a splendid voice and is quite an addition to the singing fraternity of Shelby. For the
past eight years he has been practising chiropractic in Rutherford and Cleveland counties, having
finished at the Palmer School, Davenport, Iowa, in Sept. 1917. He took post-graduate work there
in 1922 and last week was one of the first six in North Carolina to take a special dburse in Dr.
Spear’s Painless system of adjustment, which was given at the Robert E. Lee Hotel, Winston
Salem.
Dr. Spear’s painless system of adjustment is declared by the leading chiropractors in live
United States to.be the greatest discovery in the science of Chiropractic because by this system
the vertebrae can be moved, relieving the nerve pressure, without the least pain or discomfort to
the patient. .
Dr. Jarrett stands high in his profession, being President of the North Carolina Chiropractic
Association, District No. 5. He has been maintaining a twice a week office at Forest City, but
this has been closed in order to devote his entire time to his large Shelby practice.
NERVE IMPULSES CONTROL HEALTH
Uivery organ ana tissue aepenas on us normal now oi mcgi. lug im
pul-vs from your brain through the spinal co.tl rml it-, nerve trunk.;. Let
one of them be pinched where it passes ou: ho . ween any two vertebrae and
some com spending organ or tissue of your body is deprived of its full
share of impulses—you are now ready to welcome a chronic disease.
A Chiropractor can trace the reason for your illness directly to the
malposition of a vertebrae in your spine. ProfossiortuMy, he calls this a
“.suhlu:<atioa" and he knows that a subluxation is a common causa for
disease.
lou will find your Chiropractor tnorcughly capable and well worthy of your trust and confidence.
Beyond a natural ingrained sympathy for you, your Chiropractor will not be concerned so much with
“how sick you are" as with “what started you” on the road to poor health.
Your Chiropractor has been trained in first principles, and therefore your reason for being sick
is what must be learned first.
After definitely fixing the position of that segment (or vertebra) of your spine which is abnormal
by reason of being slightly out of alignment, your chiropractor will induce this movable sedgment to
return to its normal position by a series of adjustments—and a chiropractor’s bands are his only tools.
There arc millions of people in America who are living in robust health as a result of Chiropractic
adjustments; there are more millions who thank God for Chiropractic’s benefits to them; and still
there are more millions who only accept this wonderful Health Science after everything else had failed.
They can testify to the fact that Chiropractic adjustments alone are responsible for their present well
being, Happiness and ability to enjoyHJood Health.
Consult your Chiropractor. Get the facts first hand.
