Raleigh, Dec. 21.—Cotton growing farmers who have delivered their cot ton to the North Carolina Cotton Growers Association will receive ap proximately $1,125,000 in the form of Christmas distribution checks during the first days on next week, in time for the Holiday shopping. The office force of the Association at. Raleigh is busy making out these checks, nnd there are about 20,000 of them. They represent the first distri bution. following the custom of the ! management of the Assoc:ation, and together with the initial advance i made on delivery, the farmers will ! have received when these checks arc j delivered a total advance of 15 cents Basis Middling. Because of the fact that the cotton delivered to the Asso ciation this year is running about fifty points above Middling, the aver age distribution price will be about 15.50c. General Manager Blalock states i that the checks went in the mails I Saturday of last week, and wil! reach all members not later than Dec. 22nd. I The distribution covers all cotton de- ; livered to the Association prior to Dec. 1st. Up to that time approxi mately 125,000 bales had been receiv ed. About 25,000 additional bales have been received since December 1st and this cotton will be included in the next distribution when it will be even ed up with cotton received nievious ly. Mr. Blalock confidently expects at least 10,000 more bales. Tlie deliveries to the Association are already far above the receipts of any previous yenf, and tiie indication are that the confidence in coopemtive marketing of cotton is steadily grow ing. To Much Impersonation “I say, Bob,” asked an acquaint ance “why did the foreman smack you yesterday ?” “Well, you know,” was the reply, “a foreman is one who stands around and watches his gang work.” “I know; but what’s that got to do with it?” “Why, he got jealous of me! People thought I was the foreman.” Under A New Label Mother—“F’r heaven sakes, m-dear —why does mat young man, Joe Brown wear such a wide belt?” Daughter—“I don’t know, inothe" —but I think for the same reason that President Roosevelt wore red, white and blue suspenders.’” P.
