Junior Division of Confederacy, TV- Junior Division of the Child ren of the Confederacy are giving a party tonight, at the Cleveland Spring - Hotel at H o’clock. South Washington Bridge Club to Meet. The South Washington Br.dg* club will meet tomorrow (Saturday afternoon» at the home of Mr*. Joe Nash on South Dc Kalb street, at 3:.’50 o’clock. Another Old Fashioned Square Dance. Court View Hotel was the secene of another old fashioned dance on Thursday evening. Quite a number of roupte* participated and a most de lightful evening was spent. The mus ic was espec.ally good and the danc ing much enjoyed. Delightful Meeting of AUernocn Division No 1, A delightful meeting of the after noon Division No 1. of the Woman's Club was held in the dub rooms oh Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock. The room was beautifully decorated with red roses and fern-- making a charming netting for the club mem ber*. The hostesses of the afternoon were, Mrs. Fred Morgan, Mrs. Hugh Maum-v, Mrs. Reuben M*'Braver and Mrs. E. A. Houser. Mr*i B .0. Gra harft Was the leader of this meeting and the subject of the afternoon was “Damaged Souls." The first paper on the program “Vanity and Cursed Deposition” was treated intelligent v ly and interestingly by .Mrs. Alger Hamtiek. This was followed by a care fully prepared paper on “Paine, The Rebel," by Mrs . J. O. Lutz. Mrs. Rush Hamrick read a most entertain ing paper on “Gamaliel Bradford— Spiritual S.Jhouettist," which was written in a splendid way by Miss Annie Hamrick. The club was espec ially favored by two delightful mus ical (selections, a vocal solo “Tosti's Good Bye” sung'exceedingly well by Mias Anne Adams and an instru mental solo, “To Spring?’ played exquisitely by M.ss Ruth Howie. At the concision of the program the hos tesses served sandwiches coffee and sweets. Young-Hoyle Wedding. Coming as a complete surprise to their many friends was the wedding, of Miss Hattie Hoyle and Mr. Rk-d Young whichh was solemnized on Tuesday afternoon at five o’ckx-k at the home of Judge and Mrs. John Mull, sister and brother of the bride. Rev. Dr. H. K Boyer officiated in the presence of only the immediate family. The room whrfe the cere mony wan performed was beautful ly decorated with sweet peas, ear nations and ferns. The bride and groom entered together and stood before an improvised altar where the solemn vows were taken. The bride wore a charming suit of green with tan shoes hat and aceessor.es, Bhe wore a lovely corsage of sweet peas and valley lillies. She is a beautiful and attractive young wo man a graduate of the high school of last year. For the past year she has been a valuable assistant of the Building and Loan Co. connected with Mr. John Mull. Mr. Young is one of Shelby’s most promising and popular young business men and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Young. Miss Hoyle has been making her home with Mr. and Mrs. Mull for the past five years. Immediately af ter ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Young left for a bridal trip. Upon t’neir return they will be at home for tfe» present with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Young. Their many friends wish them much happiness. Ixvely George Washington Party. Mrs. Ceph Blanton, always n charming hostess, gave a most beau tiful George Washington party to the members of the Embroidery club at her hospitable home on Thurs day afternoon at S;30 o'clock. Pa triot iam was displayed in the de corations of beautiful flags used abundantly in the attractive rooms, Rich red roses and ferns graced the mantels, tables and p.ano. Six tables of rook and bridge was played dur ing the afternoon. Centering the tables were miniture flags and the place and score cards carried out the red and white and blue flag idea. The games went merrily for an hour and at their conclusion it wus found that Mrs. Ralph Royster had scored highest in bridge, and she was j given a beautiful tray cover. Mrs. j Nelson Lattimore lead in rook, and I she was given a loyely towel. Mrs. j Pick Gurley guest of honor was pre sented with an exquisite guest of j honor prize. Mrs. Blanton served the j mast elegant and delicious salad and j sweet course carrying out the flag idea in red white and blue, the sand wiches being tied with this tri-col ored ribbon. Miss McKntire Wins Beautv Honor. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. .1. B. Mc Kntire former residents of Shelby, will l>e interested in knowing that their young (laughter. Miss .Shirley McKntire who is attending Brenau college, Gainesville, Ga., ha been Vot ed one of five of the most beautiful and attractive girls in this school where there are 82f> students. Miss McKntire who is very talemed when a tiny babe. carried off the prize at a baby show in Shelby. She graduated with honors at the Roan oke city high school at the age of Ifi. Miss McKntire is a member of Phi Mu Sorority and on her mother's [ side is a great- great grand nice of Patrick Henry the famous Virginia statesman. She is pleasantly remembered by the ■| lunger social set. having visited Mr. and Mrs. Griffin P. Smith last summer.
