Vetus Wearer dur ing the week-end. Mr. t.nd Mrs. Palma Smith were called to Spartanburg Sunday on ac count of the illness of Mrs. Smith’s iister, Mrs. Bradley. The Bradleys lived in Eastside at one time. Mrs. Vetus Weaver and children went to Kings Mountain' Tuesday to visit relatives. Messrs. Lon Wortman, Loy Wort man, Furman Hopper, The mas Hop per, Claude Mabry, Forrest Ongle, .T. P. Toms, J. E. Waldrop, Coleman Rollins and Frank Rollins spent a few days in Wilmington Iast week. The nine-months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Holliday was buried last week at Ross’ Grove church. The little one died of colitis. Rev. Lawrance Roberts filled the pulpit here in Rev. H. E. Waldrop’s absence Sunday morning and Rev. G. P. Abernethy preached Sunday night. Both sermons were enjoyed. West Shelby Items . Of Personal Interest (Special to The Star) Little Mildred Canipe is visiting her uncle, Dr. McClure Newton, of Spar tanburg, S. C„ this week. Mr. E. C. Kiser is back in Shelby again after spending nine months in Florida. Mr. Kiser says Florida is dull but he con.emplates returning at an early date. Miss Mildred Ramsey is visiting Miss Catherine Wilson, of Catawba. Mr. Jack Hill and family, of Kail Eton, spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Ledford. Little Miss Lottie Wells, of Cher ryville, is visiting her sister, Mrs. L,.e Deverney. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Stroup announce the birth of a fire son, on Aug. 15. Mrs. Geo. Ledford who has been sick shows very little improvement. Mrs. M. Newton returned to her home in Spartanburg. S. C., after spending two weeks with her daugh ters Mcsdames A. C. Canipe and C. D. , Weast. Mr. J. T. Ramsey and sons, Collie and J. T., Jr., motored to Hickory, ! Wednesday on business. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Cook and little J daughter, Mildred, visited relatives near Granite Falls, Thursday. Mrs. Fred Swing and little son of Thomasville are visiting her sister, Mrs. M. G. Hamrick. j Mr. J. W. Silver is erecting a new house on Clegg street adjoining the ■ lot which he sold to Mr. June Willis. The Junior Christian Endeavor soc- j iety of the M. P. church was recently | reorganized with 23 members. The | children are doing a spendid work j and the interest is good. Mr. J. E.
