I can say to you that I have nothing to write at this | time. Our regiment has done a good deal of hard work since we have come to reorganize, though we have nbout got through with our work, though we have to drill about four hours a day. We have i got our blockade completed so wo I don't let any vessels to or from ' Washington City. When we opened our battery on ' the Yankees we took two sail ves-i srls from them and their landing ■ was said to be worth fifteen thou- j sand dollars. One bombshell struck) in about fifty yards of me was I the nearest that any of them J struck to where 1 was. We have not had any musket fighting here yet and I don’t think we will have, though if we do and I don't get killed I will write and give you the news sobn as I can. We have fixed here for winter quarters. The climate here is about like> it is on the Blue Ridge I though the wind does not blow so I much as it does there. We have good water to drink and I expect that we shall stay here all my time out, until I start home.
