Methodist ' SondaySrhool Picnic. < Special to The Star i Lattimore, Sept. 13—Cotton pick ing is getting well under way Al ready the oil mill gin has ginned 12 bales of the fleecy staple. Our school has been running about one month and the attendance is greater than has been at any time in the past. The high school foot ball team under the management of Coach Hord, is reported as making satisfactory progress. The first game of the season is slated for tho 23 of September, between the Cliff side team and the Lattimore team, on the Lattimore ground The community fair will also be held on the same date at the school building. Members of the Methodist Sunday school enjoyed a nice picnic on last Saturday afternoon at Fites spring. A nice table was spread and an abundance of ice cream was served There were about a hundred in at tendance and every one seemed highly pleased. We are soon to have a gymnasium at the school building. Prof. Lawton Blanton informs us that the con tract for materia] has already been let. The community singing in the school auditorium on last Sunday afternoon was a grand success. . Many noted singers from different portions of the county were present. Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Carswell and 1 ' Mrs. Roth Alexander of Charlotte are visiting the family of Mr. W. A. Crowder. Miss Sarah Singleton of Westmin- i ster. S. C.. is visiting her sister, Mrs ! J. C. Poteet. Misses Thelma Horn, Lala Mar-1 tin, Mattie Loti Johnson, Itnogene I Wilson and Wilbur Wilson are at - tending the teachers training school on East Marion street, Shelby.
