ELMORE. | Coming Summer May Be Cooler Than Past One This Phenomenon Appears In 11 Year Cycles And 1928 Will I5e The Peak Year. For several years the seasons I have been unusual. This may net j prove to be a .summerless year, but there has been less summer than usual. In the early morning of Aug ust 27, the people of York, Pa., wen treated to a snow storm. Fires felt comfortable on several mornings the middle of August here in the ] Central West. Next year may be even more | summeriess for 1928 Is expected to j be the peak year of our regular 11 year visitation of sun spots. ' Old Sol has had these spots every 11 years for no one knows how long. Galileo discovered them through his first telescope in 1610. They have been charted by astrono mers ever since the 18th century. One gun spot may be 00,000 miles in diameter, or it may be only 40,000 miles. But you could drop several planets as large as our Eaith into one of them, like dropping a pebble in a pond. Sun spots are cyclones or torna does, which tear great holes in the molten atmosphere of the sun. As tronomers believe they have a di rect effect on weather conditions on Earth. For instance, the heat of the sun at its surface is 6.000 degrees centigrade. But the heat of sun spots is 1,000 degrees less, and with sun spots of from' 40,000 to 60.000 miles in extent, that means a tail ing off in heat supplied to the Earth, of possibly 20 per cent. It has been noticed in charting spots on the sun, and weather on the Earth, that the Earth’s weather curves follow the sun spot curves. Thousands of observations made by the astronomer Kopen show that EXECUTRIX'S NOTICE Notice is hereby given that 1 have this day' qualified as execu trix of the will of C. A.
