Although remembering the disiastroua week-end jusi pass ed when about 40 percent, of the guesses were *■ missed The, Star’s football gueuser takes a crack below at the games this week. Who do you thii^e will win? Here goes one guess: Friday. Charlotte 20; Shelby 6. Sat urday. Duke 7; Navy 21. Davidson 9; Wake Forest 7. ^Carolina 0; Georgia Tech 20. Florida 7; N. C. State (5. Alabama ever Srwanee. Georgia over Auburn. Maryland over V. M. I. I.a3t week The Star.picked Duke tp beat Richmond, and Davidson to ck Elon—beth easy guesses—hut lest on the prediction that Carolina would beat South Carolina and that V. P. I. would beat Maryland. Fur thermore, Sheiby was picked to beat Gastonia by 14 points. Casey didn’t strike out. Among the more uncertain picks above are. these of Florida over State and Davidson over Wake For est. Both could be reversed. Which is in the nature of preparing an ali bi should as many guesses be missed as last week. The riame of the guesscr—-if you haven't guessed it —is “Alibi Ai”. He's a stepson of the niece cx Jake Wade's Nameless Won der who nicks 'em lor the Charlotte Observer. New Type Delco-Light a scientific marvel Does Everything but Think! AREY BROTHERS, %% WRESTLING GAME Who Is Real Champion Bothers Fans Who Watch Claims Of Three. I (By Null Adams, INS Staff Corres pondent,) Memphis, Tenn.—Whether Jack j Dempsey or Gene Tunney is chain !pion of the boxing profess»on is a (very definitely decided question 'compared to who is the world’s champion wrestler. Federal authorities, who have taken it upon themselves to deter mine whether there is a real cham j pion of the wrestling game in view j of sending two other claimants to ; prison for violating the postal laws j by advertising themselves as cham pions, have about decided that (there has never been a wrestling ; match that wan not framed. Ed "Strangler" Lewis is now in ' Louisiana, telling everybody from I the idle cotton pickers to flood re fugees that he is the real, the one j and only champion wrestler. Joe Stetcher, who is in Memphis, jsays Mr. Lewis is very badly mis ! taken, that he and not Mr. Lewis j is the world's champion, j Joe Malqewicz, who is somewhere ; in the U. S. if he ha;, not been call i ed to Russia to dethrone some new iking,* is not saying much about it | but his followers claim both Mr. | Lewis and Mr. Steelier are in error. ‘ “If there is a real champion, the ether two will be prosecuted for (violating the U, S. postal laws if ;they ever advertise or U'restle as | champions in the state of Louisi ana," says PhiHip Mecon, U. 8. district attorney of the Western Louisiana district. “If there is no real champion then all are safe to say they are champion as they will be only puffing, the same as an automobile dealer who says he has the best auto in the world and there is no j set way to prove he hasn’t.” All the district attorneys we are j able to find agree that Mr. Mecon is 90 per cent or better right in his definition of the law on that point. But how are* you going to tell is the question that stops all investi gations. A man who has followed the wrestling game will tell you this: "Lewis lost his title to Wayne Munn, who was supposed to let Lewis win the match but double crossed him. Lewis was thrown irojn the ring but claimed his title was not a stake. Besides Mann double crossed him.” ‘‘Munn lost to Malcedicz in what jui/iim u/a a f JJaMU —1±L~L.L12TXSR ;,a$f supposed to be and then sup possd not to be a championship battle. This question has never been decided” "Joe Steelier beat Muhn and took the championship that Mun» had \ won from Lewis und did not risk! against Malcewicz. • Now. who is champion? Take i your choice. There seems to be no Tex Rick ard in these pa its to settle the mai ard in these parts to settle thev ter. There is also no wrestling com mission, and only a morbid mob of, fans to lake an interest in the mat- i {ter. There could be no tournament to settle the claims of the three men. Sporting editors in Memphis agree cn Etecher as the champion, but perhaps that is because his match 1 wall fought here. Big Percent Of Youngsters Have Tubercular Sign Sanatorium.—T h e final re sults of the children’s tubercu losis clinics, conducted by the extension department of the North Carolina sanatorium, during the school year, TJ2C-27 showed that 8.1 per rent of all children examined were tuber culosis. Out of this number 1.8C4 react ed to the test, or 113.79 per cent. Thu reaction to the test meant that the children were infected -with the tub ercle bacilli. but not necessarily suffering with active tuberculosis disease. Physical examinations were given to 1.720 of the number re acting to the test, and 1,320 of the I number given physical examina tions were X-rayed. Of those X rayed 151 were found to have tuber culosis, and 304 we? e suspicious I I t cases. Pot the present school year chil dren’s tuberculosis clinics are al ready scheduled ahead until next j May. Clinics are planned for Kin- j ston. Greenville. St. Pauls. Hoke j cOunty, Wilson. Statesville. Robeson county and Wake County. Dr. S. E. Dee, clinic physician? is now con ducting a clinic among the school children of Mecklenburg couhty, and Dr. F. A.
