Oct 22 tt. appeared this afternoon that John Bangley, who vis thought yesterday to have fallen to his death down the base ment steps of the Inter-Carolines bus station Saturday night, might have been the victim of a brutal slaying instead of an accident. Evidence pointed strongly to the suspicion that the Belmont farmer was slain in cold blood in the bus station basement Saturday night i while the evening rush ot traveler j was on. Harold Hendricks. a bnv who wa - in the bus station, says that hr sa w Langtry, accompanied by,a strange man with a little mustache. to back toward the basement door Previously lie had seen the man with the little mustache go to the door, open it arid proceed to the basement A few minutes before Langley was found in a dying condition, the same stranger was talking to a ovstander ! on the sidewalk nv front of the bus I'station.- and was heard to remark that "tliaf basement - is a dangerous place; a man might fall down there and wreak his neck It is known that Langley was re pitted to have t,he habit-of'-carrying fto to $50 in his pocket. Although lie had none Saturday night, Roth doors to the basement, were locked on the outside when officers, sum moned because ot groans emanating from the basement, came to in vestigate the matter. Mystery. No employe of the bus station locked the doors or knows anything about how they came to be locked. A woman who had purchased a ticket and, was sitting in a bus in front of the station, with a good view of the interior from where she sat, is stated to have said tl at she saw Langley and Hit man with the mustache go back toward the base ment door together.
