Cotton Market
(By John F. Clark aud Co.)
Cotton was quoted at noon today
on New York exchange:
May 20.51. October 20.03. Yester
day's close: May 20.56; October
20.10.
New York, April 3.—Spot sales
5000. Middling 1080 against 1090
yesterday. Forecast Carollnas and
Oklahoma fair, all other cotton
states cloudy. Southern weather
last night, partly cloudy. More in
quiry in Worth street, but large
buyers show little interest, prices
steady and generally unchanged.
Memphis cotton review in Journal
of Commerce says spot cotton sales
small but no pressure to sell. Sup
ply situation gradually tightening.
Weather favorable during the week.
Texas nearly normally advanced as
to land preparations and planting.
Deficit continues in fertilizers pur
chased, weevil survival high. Char
lotte and Spartanburg report spots
inactive. Probably easier today on
cables and good weather.
