night from a trip to Atlantic City
They drove through in the car up
through Washington, Baltimore,
Philadelphia, and back through the
Shenandoah valley of Virginia,
stopping at New Market, Va„ and
taking in the Endless Caverns.
They all report a good time.

on July 4. Lawndale played a five
to five, ten inning game with the

club by a count of 6 to 1. Saturday
afternoon on the Piedmont ground.
Lawndale had an easy time winning
over the Caroleen bovs by a score
of 5 to 1. Jim Harris pitched the
game for Lawndale.

Charlotte Child
Killed By Auto
Charlotte—Marian Freeman, five
years old, daughter of Will and Mrs.
Emma Freeman, died shortly De
fore 10 o’clock this morning in the
Charlotte Sanatorium as tre result
of injuries sustained when she was
struck by an automobile.
The driver of the car, W. P. Mc
Lamb, was held at police headquar
ters today until bond of $5,000 could
be arranged. A charge of man
slaughter was made against Mc
Lamb.
Mr. McLamb reported the accident
to police immediately after it oc
curred and the child had been
taken to the hospital. The child
was struck at Brevard and Sixteenth
streets. It was stated by Mr. Mc
Lamb that the child, after getting
off a street, walked into the path
of the automobile, from behind the
car.
Injuries sustained by the little
girl included a fractured skull, frac
tured ribs and bruises about the
body.
The child lived with her mother
at 407 Sast Sixteenth street, this
city, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman had
been separated for several years, it
was said, and it was not known
where Mr. Freeman now lives.
