Raleigh—A cheese factory and milk eondensery to cost approxi mately *100.000 will be erected at West Jefferson, in Ashe county, within the next 60 days by th? Kraft-Phoenix Cheese corporation, it was learned from F. R. Farnham. dairy extention specialists cf Stale college, on his return from West Jefferson where plans for the plant were discussed. Options have already been secured on two plots of ground near West Jefferson, and *10,000 worth of ma chinery has already arrived for in stallation as soon as the buildings are completed. Present plans cail for the erection of two units, one for the manufacture of cheese and powdered whey and the second unit, to be erected later to handle sweet cream and powdered skim milk. Construction on the new plant is expected to begin not later than August 1. and when completed will be the largest of its kind in the South.
