Until re cent days, the Shelby boy was hit ting better than 300 but his per centage ins now taken n slump and he is clouting the pill at only .265 but. still that is mighty good batting and far better than some ot the "old timers" are able to do. Recent figures front The Columbus Enquir er-Sun show that Lee has been at bat 151 times, has scored 17 runs, had obtained 40 hits, has batted in 19 runs and that his total percent age to date is 2655. Shelby sports lovers are confident the young man will be in faster company by next Barn Is Burned, Lightning Struck Lirrhtning struck one of the two barns of Mr, Butler Phifer, farmer, living two miles south of Kings Mountain last night during a thun derstorm The barn and all food stuffs were totally destroyed, but the two mules and other live stock were saved from the blaze. Lawndale Boy Is Claimed By Death Dewey Beattie. or Lawndale, stu dent at Lenoir-Rhyne college, died Tuesday morning in a Lincolnton hospital shortly after undergoing an operation for kidney trouble He was a son of Mrs. Lillie Beattie, of Lawndale, and is survived bv his mother and one sister. Messenger Stations For Western Union Thirty or more messenger call stations are being installed in vari ous business places about the city by the Western Union Telegraph company. These stations consist of small rail stations which have a lever, the turning of which would signal the Western Union office to send a messenger boy to that par ticular station to get a message or run an errand.
