Termed a mentalist, Mad ame Olga agreed to answer all queries sent her through The Star. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Hamrick motored to Spartanburg last Wed nesday afternoon and attended a formal dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Ballard, honoring the representatives or the Durham Life Insurance company of the Spartanburg district. Mrs. J. A. McCraw came home Monday. 3hc has been at the bed side of her father W. G. Abrams of Ruthcrfordtcai. His condition is still critical. Little Nell Hamrick was the guest of his uncle, K. E. Hamrick last Wednesday right. Little Vander Jolley Is quite ill. Boiling Springs, Dec. 18.—The Tongues and Needles club met with Mrs. Unie Hamrick and Mrs. Rosiaia' Origg Friday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock. The home was attractively arranged with potted plants and roses. The business meeting was held and was presided over by Mrs. Mintz, the president. After the regular routine of business was dis posed of and several other matters of minor importance were discuss ed the meeting was turned over to the hostess. A very interesting cake contest wras engaged in. Mrs. J. H. Jones was given a lovely gift as the prize. The hostesses served a de licious salad course with coffee. Oyster Supper. The Home Economics club held its regular meeting at the home of Mrs. D. J. Hi.mrick Monday after noon. The business meeting was held and was presided over by Mrs V. H. Hamrick the newly elected president. A report of the oyster supper was made and the proceeds from It were given to the public school. Several other matters were brought before the club. The com mittee on the “Beautification of the School Grounds” made a favorable report. Mrs. Bufa Kamricrc and Mrs. Irma Wallace gave to the guests many helpful suggestions and ideas on the making of candies. Recipes for can dies were exchanged. After the bus iness adjourned delicious candy was served. « The Home Economics club spon sored an oyster supper for the bene fit of the public school. Bom to Prof, end Mrs. O. P. Hamrick, Monday, Dec. 16, a fine son. Mother and babe are getting along nicely. FOREST CITY BANKER QUITS . ON ADVICE OF HIS DOCTORS Forest City.—M. W. Harriss, active vice president of the Farm ers Bank and Trust company of this city, acting upon the advice of' physicians, has resigned. Mr. Harriss is a member of the Methodist church, a York and Scot tish Rite Mason and Shriner. Beginning his career in 1910 in the Bank of Hamlet, he has been in the banking business continuously since that time. He came to Forest City in October, 1923, and with the late J. D. Ledbetter org nized the National Bank of Forest City. He was cashier of that organ zation un til it was merged with the Farmers Bank and Trust company on July 1 1926. Since that time he has been active president and a member of the board of directors of this, in stitution. Mr. Harriss is a son of R. K. Har riss, formerly of Hickory.
