Hudson left Sunday for their home accom panied by Miss Janie Moses who has accepted work at the hospital in LaGrange. Mrs. P. L. Hennessa returned Sat urday from Goldsboro where sne attended the wedding of her son. Meredith, to Miss Evelyn Wilkins, which was solemnized Friday morn ing. Mr. and Mrs. Guss Stroup of West Shelby announce the arrival of a nine pound son on December 27. Mother and baby are doing nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Washburn and little daughter, Margaret, cf High Point, are guests of relat-ivo here, coming up from Hartsvllle, S. C„ where Mrs. Washburn spent Christmas with her parents. Miss Mary Elizabeth Black re turned yesterday to Taylorsville where she resumes her work as music teacher in the schools there. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Carpenter of Kings Mountain and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Webb of Gastonia spent Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Webb. Mrs. J. C. Leak of Mt. Francis is seriously ill at the Charlotte sanatorium. Mr. Bynum Weathers, attorney, has returned from a two months tour of the west, which took him as far west as California, where he remained several weeks. He made the trip by motor, going over the southern route. He anounces he will henceforth be at his old haunts in the Webb building. Chas. Clegg, principal of the high school in Unadilla, Ga., has been spending the Christmas holidays with his uncle, Mr. F. L. Hoyle and fajnily. The Romina theatre, at Fore, t City, is advertising a midnight show tomorrow—Tuesday night—when the patrons may bid forever adieu to good old ’29. “Is Everybody Hap py?” is the title of the piece to be shown, starring Ted Lewis. It's a lively show, and the Romina is j j first class, modern playhouse. The affair should be a huge success. Leaves Jail To See Sweetie, Comes Back Anderson, S. C.—Henry Free man strolled nonchalantly Into Anderson county jail, sent i cigarct butt spinning into the fireplace, and with a smile, said “Hello folks. I’m baek again, lie had escaped from jail two days before. “Oh, I had a date." he rrplierl when asked why he had left the jail. “It was with a girl and I cculdn't break it. We won’t dis cuss that now. Lock me up.” Freeman said he and Leroy Center, awaiting trial on a charge of grand larceny, hid in a run-around bath-room until the jailer locked the other pris oners in the inner cage for the night.
