Rutherfordton—Ben Hardin, about
45 Is In the Rutherfordton hospital
suffering with a concussion of brain
and John Brldgeman Is In Fores' j
City Jail, being held without bond, as
a result of a fight that occurred on
Wednesday afternoon between the
two men at Alexandria mills near
here. Both men were working In the
warehouse of the Alexandria Manu
facturing company when the fight
started.
When seen at Jail Brldgeman
stated that they had had a little
quarrel and began to fight. He stat
ed that he hit Hardin with his fist.
The blow struck Hardin on the
cheek bone and hospital attacnes
say that he is suffering with a con
cussion of the brain and Is In criti
cal condition.^
Rev. Stanford Has
Been 111, Better Now
Dr. A. L. Stanford, pastor of
Broad Street Methodist church, suf
fered a sudden attack of Illness
early Sunday afternoon at his home
and was unable to conduct his serv
ices that evening. Dr. Stanford
fainted and fell to the floor, strik
ing his head with considerable force.
He Is much improved today, how
ever and Is able to be out—States

dr icek, gray-haired little Bohemian
concert master, found life worth
living again. His rare old Stradlvar
lus violin, stolen from his apart
ment here Monday, was recovered
yesterday in a pawn shop, where
the thief had sold It for 910.75.
The violin was purchased at To
ronto, Canada, 16 years ago, and its
genuineness attested by authori
ties, Ondrlcek said. He estimated its
value at 925,000.
