Jones For Congress IN THE PRIMARY ON SATURDAY, JULY 5TH .Ys ■ • . ,Qn Saturday, July Sth, the Democrat* of the Ninth District will nom mate a candidate for Congress. Everyone will agree that the district ought to nominate a man who can be elected In November. Mecklenburg has not been represented in the National Congress In this generation, not withstanding the fact that that county has furnished Democratic major! tlee to elect Democratic Congressmen. Hamilton C. Jonas has been chair men of the Mecklenburg County Democratic Executive Committee for sixteen years, and has never failed to harmonlae Its factions and roll uri a,Democratic majority for the party and Its candidates. In the general election the Democrats of Mecklenburg would rally to the support of Hamilton C. Jones and help elect him. He has had no clash with labor or capital to mar his chances for election In November. He la conservative in thought, fair in reasoning, and Just to all classes and conditions There doea not appear upon the horison a single reason why he could not earry tn November the full strength of his party. It la of supreme im portance to the Democratic party In every county In the. Nbith District that this district be redeemed for Democracy. CAN MAJOR BULWINKLE REDEEM THIS DISTRICT IF NOM INATED? WHY AND HOW? IS HE STRONGER NOW THAN H® WAS IN 1928 AT THE END OF EIGHT YEARS OF THE BEST SER VICE HE COULD RENDER AS CONGRESSMAN? A tour of the District will show that he has alienated thousands of Democrats In the textile Industry since 1928. The following table will show that he ran behind the gubernatorial ticket in the Ninth District by JWi votes, and that Republican Jonas carded the district over him by a majority of SMB votes.
