Other Items of Section (Special To The Star) Casar—-There will be community singing at the Methodist church Thursday night. Mr. Fred Hull is song leader. The high school opens Monday, July 28. A music department is be ing added this year under the di rection of Miss Made Spurling of Shelby. The Casar Ball team played Mor ganton at Casar Saturday after noon, and were victors by a score of 21 to 4. The Casar players have won seven out of seven games this season. Mr. Vie Elmore Is the ef ficient manager of this splendid team. The Casar Cash Store, owned by Mr. C. A. Wrotman, was robbed Monday night of several dollars worth of candy, cigars, drinks, and chewing gum. The thieves made their getaway and no clues as to their identity have beeg made as yet. Mr. Mat Hastings and Miss Les sie Castner were quietly married Sunday, much to the surprise of their friends. Mrs. Hastings is the popular daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Castner of the Pisgah sec tion, while the groom is the son of Mr. Joo Hastings of the Clover Hill community. Born July 19 to Mr. and Mrs. F. M- Newton a daughter, Mary Eve lyn. Mr. and Mrs. George Hoyle report the birth of a son July 12. Mother and baby are getting along nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ownesby and children, Virginia, Margaret, and Frances, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Richards, and Mr. and Mrs. D. o. Melton last week-end. Miss Paulino Newton has return-* ed from a visit to Dr. MeClover Newton of Spartanburg, S. C. Mrs. uink Short has been very sick for the last few days. The many friends of Mrs. Dali Haynes will be glad to know that she came home Wednesday from the Shelby hospital.. Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Horton and daughter. Manta, spent last week at Carolina Beach. < Funeral Services for Mrs. Ballfv. Singing at Trinity Last Sunday Funeral services were held at damp Creek last Friday for Mrs. Jane Bailey, she died Thursday morning at the home of her daugh ter-in-law, Mrs. E. J. Bailey of Gaffney, Route 1. She was 84 years of age. Funeral services were con ducted by the Rev, C. A, Kirby, pas tor of the Chorkee Avenue Bhptist church of Gaffney, where she was a member Mrs. Bailey was the widow of the late Ell J. Bailey, a confederate soldier, who was killed at the battle of Seven Pines. Be sides her daughter-in-law, Mrs. £. J. Bailey, the deceased is survive*! by three grandsons, H. S. Bailey of Baltimqgp, Howard and Broughton Bailey of Gaffney, Route 1. Mrs. ;pa,vicl Bailey of this section was burled at Camp Creek church last Monday afternoon, h^rs. Bailey died at the General Hospital at Spartanburg last Sunctay. She was the daughter of Bulo and Ida Earls and is survived by her husband and four children, two boys and two girls as follows. Boyce, Leonard. Margie and Irene, her father, Bulo Earls, two brothers, Richard and Broadus. and four sisters, Effie, Zelma, Zinnie and Maymie also a step mother who was Nannie Mc Craw, Mrs. Bailey was nearly 28 years of age. Rev. C. C. Matheney, of Forest City, a former paster, conducted the funeral. The body was laid to rest beneath a mound of many beautiful flowers.
