Btn/ARD Andes? 'WtZ/COKEV .e>¥ G ROOKS KoTHEEL AFTER WEDDING By ALICE ALDEN. New York.—And so they lived happily ever ufter! That Is the ending that all, lovers of romance would decree for the story of the courtship and marriage of Edward Andes and Florence Dan isavage, a story that proves that chivalry isn’t dead despite the fact that so many men remain glued to their seats in overcrowded public vehicles, while elderly women are forced to stand. A few weeks ago, an unwed moth er abandoned her babe. The love child, a beautiful girl was left fh a dark hallway by a bewildered young woman, who was hopeless, jobless, and who felt herself trapped by a civilization that so often refuses to recognize the unwed mother and yet Insists that she should not aban don the badge of her disgrace. Flor ence Danlsavage loved her tiny babe although it was a living reminder of her unwise love, but she was des perate and hungry and felt that some kindly soul would find it and care for it. The babe was soon dis covered and the the police of West New York found Florence and she was placed in a cell pending sen tence. Last week, Edward Andes was set ting type in the com posing-room of the New Jersey paper for which he works. The story was one that h un fortunately still all too common in the news columns—that of an un wed mother. That morning Eddie had admired the picture of an abandoned baby girl and had decid ed that if ever he got married that was the type of youngster for whom he would gladly walk the floor o’ nights. He was thinking of the fate of the abandoned pawn of circum stance when the name of the moth er caught his eye. It was that of Florence Damsav age and he sudden ly recollected that he had met her and admired her Intensely. She was a sale-girl tn the men’s furnishings section of a Secaucus, N. J. stoic that he had patronised. Suddenly Edward Andes realised that he loved Florence Daulsavage. even as he loved the baby whose ■ncture he had noticed that morn ing. He realized that he didn’t care what Florence had done, what she oad been, he only knew that he must go to he,r. And so he dashed iway leaving someone else to set up the unfinished story while he pre oared a happy ending tor It. At the police station he was given permis sion to visit Florence and to her dark cell he came bearing the pre cious gifts of freedom and happiness They were married a few days later and are at present living With And ers' mother, who Is a New Jersey school trustee. According to the theories of many scientists, psychologists and wrtters. the Anders’ marriage should ulti mately go on the rocks. But the bridegroom caiinot see why it should. And most people, whatever their views, will hope that he will be right. In France where a statute to the unwed mother has bean erect ed, such a marriage would be the subject of much comment, Utile of It favorable, but here—tn a land that France calls puritanical, most people will applaud Andes’ pluck If not his wisdom. When the baby’s olcture was published, over one hun dred people called the station and wanted to adopt the baby and help the mother. But now It won’t oe necessary because Florence, Eddie and the babe have found their blue heaveu. At least, the Tuly-OUbert, Kea ton-Keys altercations have given certain Hollywood stars opportun ity to view brighter constellations. oharira of juurdcr. EXECUTOR*' NOTICE.
