Harrlll Stars, A Lowell baseball team out look ing for revenge gave the Shelby highs a fit here Friday afternoon and thoroughly entertained fans with an exciting eleven Inning con test. Some weeks ago the Morrlsmen made 25 runs on Lowell and won hands down, but It was a different •tory Friday as Shelby came out of the 11 racks with a 6-5 victory The Lowell boys slashed out 11 hits to Shelby's nine, but Shelby errors helped keep the local team in hot water, and It was Jast another afternoon in which the successors to the 1930 champs were not play ing heady ball. Thrills Aplenty. Lowell came from behind to tie the score in the ninth and go in the lead In the tenth. Shelby knotted It back up in the tenth when Bill Harrlll lashed out a triple to score Mayhew. Lowell failed to score In the eleventh and Shelby's chances to do so began to look slim when Shorty McSwain walked and Purp Barrett finally got hold of one to bring McSwain home to win the game. Mayhew led the hitting for Shel by witli two safeties, but the Shelby bats were not clicking as they were against Kings Mountain. Neither was the fielding and pitching any thing to write home about. HarrtH’s snagging of outfield drives, how ever looked good and save some ad ditional tallies. Somehow the Mor llsmen, who play good ball away from home, get nervous at home and kick the ball about. At that the Tumbles ore not air by the new players. The four veterans usually liave a hand in it. When Philbeck and Mayhew are not juggling *hem it is McSwain and Wilson, Hives, a fast fielding short stop, led Lowell's hitting with three blng tea Lineups : Lowell AB HUE Rives, ss . 7 1 3 1 Cox, 2b __ . - 5 0 10 Costner, if ...v.,:,; » t 1 .0, Holmes, lb . 7 a 2 l Hand, rf- 5 0 0 0 13.
