Person returned home Wednesday after spending several days in Greensboro where he at tended a district meeting of Mont gomery Ward managers. Mrs. S. Lester Roberts, who un derwent an operation in the hospi tal on Wednesday, is doing well after the operation, her friends will be glad to learn. Mrs. R. T. LeGrand, Mrs. W. F Mitchell, Mrs. L. A. Gettys, Mrs, J. O. Corbett and Miss Carobel Lever spent Wednesday in Charlotte. Mrs. Forrest Elis is in the Ruth erfordton hospital this week where she Is undergoing treatment. Her friends will be glad to know that she expects to be able to return home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Draper Wood spent Wednesday and Wednesday night in Charlotte where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hull. Mr. and Mrs- Hubard Panter, of Kinston, are visiting the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Panther at their home here. Mr. Eugene Hoyle, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Hoyle, has returned home after spending four years In the U. 3. navy. His years in the navy have proved an interesting experience as he haa visited more than 50 foreign ports in his travels. Miss Lillian and Junior McSwaln of the Double Springs community are spending this week here with Mr. and Mrs. Summy Grayson. Mrs. Herbert E. Miss Margaret Joyner, of Canton, who teaches at Middleburg, will spend this week-end here as guest of Miss Charlie Mae Laughridge. Mrs. M. W. Parrish and Miss Mabel Parrish arrived last night to visit Mr. and Mrs. W. L, McCord. Friends of Mrs. William Andrews will be sorry to learn that she is confined to her home suffering with tonsilitis. Little Robert Toms, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Toms is in the Shel by hospital where he underwent an operation yesterday. Miss Marietta Hoyle, student at Davenport college, Lenoir, will ar rive in Shelby this evening to spend the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Hoyle.
