C Mrs. Parker Dies In Upper Cleveland Wu Near 77 Tear* of Age. Bnrlrd June 4th At Mount Zion Church. '(Special to The Star > Casar, June 8.—Our community was made sad upon hearing of the death of Mrs. Elisa Parker, who died June 3, and was buried the fol lowing day at Mt, Zion Baptist church. Her pastor. Rev. Otis Cook, conducted the services. Mrs, Parker lacked six days of being 77 years of age. She was a daughter of the late Tilford Price and one of the prominent men of upper Cleveland in his day. She was the last of her father's family to die. ■ More than 50 years ago she married Oeo. W. Parker, who, with one daughter, Mrs. John White, sur vives. Until about a year ago when her health failed, Mrs. Parker was an unusually active peruen for her age, taking great Interest In the welfare of the community and ever ready to lend a helping hand. She will be greatly missed by all. Dad To Have Day Of Own In June After a struggle of twenty-one years, Father's day, which is June 21st this year, has attained its seniority. The idea of Father's day was first suggested by Mrs, John Bruce Dodd of Spokane, Wash,, in 1910, and congress recognized the day four years later. It has become one of the great national days of observance, and more than 100,000 sons and daugh ters now send telegrams of appre ciation and congratulation to dad on his day each year, and hundreds of thousands of others who live at home show their love in other ways. Simmons of Spencer spent Saturday and Sunday in the community. Mrs. Simmons will spend a week visiting friends and relatives while Mr. Simmons goes back to Spencer.
