Boiling Springs News Of Interest Bolling 8prlngs July 6 —Mrs. J. T. Hamrick was hostess to the mem bers of the Book club and a few Invited guest at a delightful party on last Wednesday evening. The home was beautifully decorated with choice summer flowers. The guest Vere received at the door by Mrs. Dr. Hamrick and Miss Catherine Hamrick. After the quest assembl ed, the club was called to order by the president, a short business meet ing was held, and a very Interesting programme was given as follows: "The Estates of North Carolina," Mrs. L. W. Hamrick: "The Historic Places of North Caroltna," Mrs. Dr. B. M. Jarrett. After which the hostess assisted by Mrs. L. W. Ham rick. Mrs. Garland Greene and Miss Gertie Oreene served a delicious salad course. At a previous meeting Mrs. B. M. Jarrett was hostess to the Book club and a number of Invited guests at the >home of her mother Mrs. J. L. Pruett of Bolling Springs. The home was decorated with beautiful flowers, artistically arranged The guests were greeted by Mrs. Jarrett and Mrs. J. L. Pruette. After a short business meeting a very In teresting and Inspiring programme was given—"The Mineral Resources of North Carolina,’' Mrs. M. A. Jol ley; "The Pishing Industry of North Carolina.” Mrs. J. H. Jones. After Which the hostess assisted by Miss Daisy Lee Pruette served a delicious sweet course. Mrs Dean White and little sons, Bobby and Billy spent the week-end with her mother In Chesnee. Mrs. Roelna H. Grlgg spent a few days of the past week with Miss Johnnie Male McBrayer and Mrs. J. H. McBrayer Who are In summer school at Lenoir Rhyne College. Miss Rosa Lynn Pruette spent the past week In Shelby visiting her sister Mrs. Dr. B. M. Jarett. Dr. A. B. Holland, Hulton Holland, Blanche Holland, and Qhristtne Honeycutt motored to Plat Rock last Sunday afternoon. Little Margaret Jolley of Shelby ■is visiting relatives here at this time. Mr. and Mrs. Mulligan and family of Oklahoma have been visiting relatives here and In Shelby. Miss Evelyn Huggins has been attending the Baptist Assembly In Hartsville. She also visited friends at Mullins. Miss Kate Moore Is at home now with her parents Mr. and Mrs. J F. Moore, after having taught at Thom as vllle the past winter. The Home Demonstration club held a picnic on the College campus Saturday. A good time was reported by those present. Mrs. Merlin Walker and Mrs. Ida McBrayer were the spend the day guests of Mrs. Dean White on last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Jones Hopper and Mr. and Mrs. Duyte Hopper were callers at the home of Mrs. O. T. Ledford Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Wofford Hamrick and little daughter of Gastonia spent the past week-end here with Mr. Hamrick’s mother, Mrs. D. P, Hamrick. Little Dorris Hamrick has been sick with roseola but Is now well again. Mrs. Beufie Hamrick was the spend the day guest of Mrs. Zen Bridges on last Saturday. (Special to The Star.) Trinity, July 7.—The members of the senior B. Y. P. U. enjoyed a chicken fry at Flat Rock on last Saturday afternoon. A number of the friends of Miss Mary Alice Lovelace gave l.er a surprise party on last Saturday evening and all report a wonderful time. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Huntley brought us a stirring mes sage on “The Duties of the Church Toward the Deacons." Little Miss Nettle Towery of near Forest City Is spending some time here with her sister, Mrs. Amos Jolley. Mrs. Zack Brackett has returned to her home here recently after having spent some time with her daughter, Mrs. Blanton of Shelby. Mrs. M. A. Jolley and son, Lans ford, of Bolling Springs and Miss Margaret Jolley of Shelby were the dinner guests of Mrs. K. D. N. Jolley Monday. Misses Ollie and Bertie Bridges spent Saturday night with Miss Effle Bridges of Henrietta.
