Thursday July 14th has been defi nitely set for the opening of the modern Cleveland Springs Hotel which has been under construction for nearly 18 months. The building itself will be ready by Saturday, the date first set for the opening, but the delay In bed room furni ture necessitates a further delay of five days. Mr, R. T. Rosemond, the new manager arrived a week ago and Is rushing everything along as fast as possible. The swimming pool has been completed and filled with water. The garage is under construction, a dressing room at the swimming pool will be begun in a few days, baseball ground, tennis courts and golf links will be provided as soon as the work can be done. Over 3,000 people attended the Fourth of July celebration at Hol lis and enjoyed the exercises and entertainment provided by that prince of good fellows, Hon. J. P. D. Withrow, merchant king and former representative of Ruther ford in the General Assembly of North Carolina. Another pretty courtesy to Mrs. Sledely and sister Mrs. Thompson, was the picnic Tuesday night at Cleveland Springs. The supper-, which was bountiful and complete in every detail, was furnished by the Methodist ladles of the Wo man's Bible Study class, and to which all the Bible class was In vited. Mrs. Andrew Miller, Jr , was a most charming hostess on Thurs day morning at the Miller home on South Washington street in honor of her two charming sisters, Misses Helen and Stella Blackwell of Spencer who are her guests until Sunday.
