Hooy made hi* recent statement in Charlotte anent the race for the United States Senate it 1* rather generally believed that he will an nounce hi* candidacy around the first of the year. And some days ago Judge Tam Bowie assured the state that, “somebody” must oppose Senator Morrison, <Jhteh leads to the opinion that Judge Tam is thinking of himself as the most logical somebody So it seems a farlly safe surmise that both Mr. Hoey and Mr. Bowie will take on the Senator In the next June primary, and that leaves much room for speculation. In all the western part of the state we do not believe there are two men capable of running; a stronger race than Mr. Mortison and Mr. Hoey. They are veteran campaigners, both hav ing tremendhiMy large personal fol lowings throughout the atate and both being able to move the masses to great enthusiasm, Any other candidates who seek the nomination must base their hope upon the nullifying erfeet that the candidacies of these two men will have On each other.
