Fallston News Of Current Week Revival Under VVaT—Mr*. Lackey Entertains—Dinner Party For Henderson Visitors. Fallston, July 17.—Much interest 's being shown In the Revival meet ing which is going on at the Bap tist church this week. The preach ing is being done by the pastor, Rev. W. A. Elam. On Thursday evening, July 9. Dr. and Mrs. W. J. Lackey entertained with a lovely party at their beauti ful home at Fallston, honoring Misses Bernice and Mary Sue Bord ers of Shelby. Progressive conver sation was carried on during the evening; after which delicious water melon was served. A large crowd was present. The Gastonia district won first place with their play given at Lake Junnaluska Assembly of Leaguers last week. Three of the characters were of the Belwood circuit, Rev. F. E. Snow. Rev. William Acre and Mr. G. M. Daggerheart. The Bel wood charge had the largest crowd of any charge of the western North Carolina conference. Misses Nathalee Lackey -and Gladys Morris entertained at the Morris home on Wednesday even ing, July 8, with a dinner party honoring Miss Mary E. Young, Miss Lucille Numeric and Miss Taylor all of Henderson, who were teacher; at the western regional convention held by the M. P. church. Covers were laid for Misses Young. Taylor, Nunnerie, Miss Gladys Morris, Miss Nathalee Lackey. Rev. and Mrs. J. D. Morris, Mr. Clarence Morris. Mr. Woodrow Morris, and Mr. Tom Howard. The annual Revival meeting of the Methodist Protestant church "ill begin Sunday July 19. Preach ing services will be conducted by the pastor. Rev. J. M. Morgan Mr and Mrs. T A. Banker At Gaffney Former Cherokee Commission Chair man Convicted Of Breach Of Trust. Gaffney, S. C., July 15 —Comict ed on one count of an Indictment charging breach of trust with fraud ulent Intent, T. D. Daniel this aft ernoon was sentenced by Judge Thomas J. Seas to serve one year. Notice of appeal was given and Dan iel was released under $500 bond. Daniel, former chairman of the Cherokee county sinking fund com mission and former cashier of the now defunct American State bank was found guilty of converting to his ' own use $1,000 from city of Gaffney, sinking funds being handled by the Year Term1 county commission The count in which Daniel was convicted involved a *1.000 check, dated April 5, 1930 The defendant did not deny that he had gotten the money, but claimed he had lent it to himself and that sufficient col lateral had been posted in the form of bonds The state argued this col lateral was not turned over to the new sinking commission when Dan iel went out of office Daniel was acquitted on a similar charge involving another check tor $1,100 A third case against him, one in which similar chargee were made concerning a $900 check resulted in a mistrial several months ago And That Fight Was On.
