Shelby, who celebrated hts 93rd
birthday anniversary on June 8 r.f
this year, died last night at 10:30
o'clock at his home. 701 East boule
vard In Charlotte The body was
brought to Shelby Monday morning
and the funeral services were held
at the Shelby cemetery Monday at
12:30 o'clock, In charge of Rev. J.
Marcus Kester, pastor of the First
Baptist church in Shelby, of which
the deceased was a member. He
was the son of the late James and
Susan Putnam Love, the former
having donated the site on which
Shelby was founded fn 1842, giving
the land for all the churches, schools
and public buildings of the town.
Captain Love was mayor of Shelby
for many years and established the
