The< room In which the two tables wen arranged for bridge was decorated with vases of bright colored amnia., and each of the tables was center ed with a green crystal bud vase bolding pink roses and clematis At rfce elope ef the games a delightful lee and sweet course was served, green glassware being used fo> serving. Pirate Bridge Party la Unigee Brent Mrs. J. C. Smith was t charming hostess on Monday afternoon when she entertained at an unusually lovely party in honor of her visitor, Mrs. W, Foxworth Horne, of Jack sonville. FIs. Mr#. Smith received in a becoming afternoon dress of pes green lace, and Mrs. Horne was ex quisitely dressed in black lace with which she used crystal accessories The rooms of the. lower floor of the home were thrown together and decorated with pink roses The table in the dining room was beau tifully arranged with s lace cloth over pink and centered with a large basket of pink roses. Smaller baskets of pink roses and clematis graced each corner of the table and green candlesticks held graceful pink tapers. The Pirate* Den idea «w carried out in harmojw with the attractive invitations which had been issued Small pirate* were used as place cards at the five tables placed for bridge. When the score* were add ed Mrs. Charles Williams was given a double deck of cards as high scow pme and Mrs. Jap Buttle received a gilded filigree score pad as low score award. Mrs Smith presented the guest of honor with a handsome blue and gold boudoii clock. After the game* a delicious salad course with accessories was served, followed bv an ice and sweet course. Attractive features ol the refreshment plate were a salad decorated with a pirate design and a aandwieh representing a flag. Mrs Mayme Wray Webb, Mrs Hugh Miller, ,ir„ and Mrs Nelson l.atti more assisted in serving. After refreshments the tables were removed and the guests were given instructions for a treasure hunt which ended with each gueat find ing hidden somewhere in the rooms a gift, such as beads, ear screws, bracelets and other novelties. The honoree found a small chest filled with pennies. After the ' treasure' was discovered the guests were giv en the pirate a privilege of selecting whichever of the gifts she chase, ac cording to the value of the indivi dual scores. Each guest was also given a dainty hand-made fan o< green silk gause as a favor Those playing were: Mrs Horne Mrs. R. L. Ryburn, Mrs. J. Prank Jenkins and visitor, Mrs Jim Mc Brayer. of Raleigh. Thompson expect to go up tomorrow to attend the dance to be held at Grove Park Inn tomorrow night. Melon Feast For Nurses. Five Year Plan For Prosperity Of World Amsterdam. Holland. Aug 26.—A five-year world prosperity plan was outlined to delegates from twenty countries attending the world so cial-economic congress today by Dr Louis L. Lorwin. of the Brookings Institute. Washington, D. C. He told 300 economists, industrial ists. labor leaders and government officers that a general five-year moratorium on all war debts and reparations payments was the first necessary steps to give the world a breathing spell from what he term ed its most aggravating and dan gerous post-war problem Such a moratorium would leave open final settlements of the debts and reparations question, he said, but the presumption would be in fa vor of further extending it and a final cancellation If the effects proved as beneficient as expected.
