Childs, in Lincolnton Mr John ston came here eight days ago to visit at the home of his daughter and suffered a heart attack as he was entering the home, from which he failed to rally, Washington Pictures For County Schools Every school room in Cleveland county has received through the city and county superintendents, a fine picture of George Washington, the first President of the United Slates. These pictures are approx imately two by three feet and are almost perfect copies of an oil painting, due to modern excellence in color photography and printing. They look like an oil portrait on canvas at a little distance. School authorities are expected to have the pictures framed for each of the school rooms. The pictures are made at the expense of the govern ment in this anniversary rear of Washington. Taught Unfortunates To Help Themselves When a large section of the negr ; district of Columbia. Miss Piland then met with the negro women and organiz ed a sewing class of 15 to make new garments and work over the ma terial which had been donated from various sources Two sewing machines were car ried to the local school building and Miss Piland gave enough of her time to direct the making of th» garments. This Is the eleventh nation-wide campaign of better home,- in America, an education organization established for public service in the Interest of home improvement President.
